“Neither do I trust you! You have been hurting her with your actions”. Ify said. K asked her if she didn’t enjoy doing the same. She told him she was compelled. Then he told her it was too late to repent. If she wants to live her life she could go on without getting Lanre involved in anyway. Ify asked him why he was doing the things he did.
“I told you already. And I owe you no more explanation. Get out of my house”. K said. Ify sighed. She looked down for a moment before lifting up her eyes to K.
“I don’t want to stay either. I’ve been wasting my life for over four months now. I am better than that. But can I at least talk to Lanre and explain things to her?” Ify pleaded. For a moment K thought she was not going to ask to see Lanre anymore.
“But wait a minute. She’s pregnant right? She is pregnant for Christian. How come you are still all about her? Do you intend fighting your friend for a woman who you will only end up hurting? Why am I even asking you to let me see her when I can find my way to her shop? You are just being an asshole”. Ify said.
“Do not go to her shop. Don’t even get twenty kilometers close to Lanre. Stay away from her. And point of correction, she’s mine. She has always been and always will be mine”. He said.
Ify asked him even though he knows she was carrying someone else’s, if he would still make her is. K told her Lanre is already his and it was his child. Ify clenched her fist. She called him a liar. He smirked. He told her to suit herself and believe what she wants.
“This is all a joke right? K, you are not serious! You can’t have her. Leave her alone. Lanre would not agree to be kept as a house wife. You’ve seen for yourself that she loves working. And she has rejected you once”. Ify said. K asked her if that was her problem.
“Even if I am ready to back out. I can’t let you marry Lanre. You can’t keep her. Besides, Christian loves her more than you do. He cares for her more. And he knows what Lanre wants. He supports her”. Ify said.
“Are you trying to revenge on me for not choosing you?” K asked her.
“I see it is pointless talking to you”. Ify said. K didn’t mind her. He walked away. He had better things to do than to focus on her. But he won’t spare her if she refuse to take this chance for her own redemption.
While Ify watched K leave, she could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. She could barely tell if she was actually acting when K was here, or she was being sincere. She can no longer tell the difference between her acting up and when it is real cause at this moment she could feel herself envious of Lanre.
