“Eno, come this way. Let me take you guys to the game room. My mom is still preparing”. Isaac said. Eno asked him if he does not think it would be wise for them to first greet his mom. Isaac told her there was no need but Eno insist that they show respect to his mom by acknowledging her. Isaac had no choice but to listen to her since she was being stubborn.
He took them to see his mother who was busy in the kitchen.
“Mom, meet my classmate, Eno and her brother……” Isaac said pointing towards Greatness unable to call out his name. He has not asked for his name.
“Good evening ma! My name is Enowa and here is my brother, Greatness”. Eno said introducing Greatness to Isaac’s mother since Isaac had failed in that aspect. The woman smiled at them. She asked if Isaac was being a nice kid at school. Eno told her he was always keeping to himself in class.
“That is more like him. Please do keep him busy at school. He is almost always in solitude”. The mother said.
“Okay ma! Happy birthday ma!” Eno said. The woman looked at Eno confused. Eno realising the situation decided to explain herself.
“I was told that a woman on the day she puts to birth finds herself between two worlds. It’s like a gamble for her life. She may either lose it or have it back. Since you survived, it’s like a new birth for you. Every child’s birthday, is their mother’s birthday as well”. Eno said. The woman made an “oh” sound realising why Eno wished her as well.
“Isn’t that ridiculous. Who told you such a stupid thing. It’s not my mother’s birthday”. Isaac said.
“I agree with her though”. The mother said. Then she told her son that whenever it is his birthday again, she will be expecting a present from him. But she will pardon him this time for the sake of his ignorance until now.
“Not me getting you a present”. Isaac said and pulled Eno with him. The mother smiled as they left, Greatness following behind.
“Kids!” She muttered, the smile not leaving her lips.
“You should get her a present though. You don’t know the pain a woman pass through to give birth to a child”. Eno said.
“She didn’t go through that. She gave birth to me through CS”. Isaac blunted out. Eno told him it was the same thing, CS or no CS.
“What is the guarantee that she would have survived it? You have a mother, you should appreciate her. I used to give mine gifts when she was alive. I envy you who still have yours around”. Eno said.
“I’m sorry about that!” Isaac apologised. Eno asked him why he was sorry. He could not say anything. She told him never to apologise for what he did not do wrong. Greatness cleared his throat to get their attention.
“Is this Ps5?” Greatness asked Isaac looking thrilled.
