Boonesville?

I bolt up in my sleep.

These nightmares always bothered me.

So many vampires wanting a taste of my blood but I could do nothing to stop them.

Everywhere is dark.

I remember the dinner I had was bigger than I expected. Chocolate cake and a sundae on the side.

Maybe that's why my tummy is aching a bit.

I shut my eyes realizing there's no point in staying awake. Out the window is pitch black and Jack is deep in his sleep.

I'm awfully cold here, pressing my knees against my chest. He didn't even offer me a blanket.

The moonlight permits me to see that the one he's using is barely covering him up.

So why don't I just take it from him.

Vampires aren't deep sleepers. And they have heightened senses too. So this won't be an easy task.

I get to my feet praying to God that none of the floor boards creak. I carefully tip toe to the side of his bed making sure I don't make any distinct sound.

Beside him, he's sleeping like a baby. He's quite handsome, loose strands of his hair hanging over his face.

But that's not the mission here Hilda.

I scan the blanket and gently squeeze the part covering his midsection. He doesn't flinch.

That's good!

I tug on it slightly and wait for any movement but I get the same response from earlier.

I start to tug harder but extremely gentle.

The moment I glance back at him, I meet his glowing green eyes staring at me like I'm the dumbest person on Earth.

"What are you doing?"

I scream but cover my mouth immediately trying not to annoy him further. "I-- uh... I was-- I was just helping you adjust your blanket because you weren't completely... Uh covered by it."

He stares at me blankly.

"Katherine."

His voice sends shivers up my spine.

"Did I get it right?"he asks.

I nod in reply.

"There's a safer way to tell me you're cold."

"Well... I couldn't just wake you up to tell you that... You would have probably devoured me right there."

"That's not a lie,"he mumbles. "So you thought for stealing it was a better choice."

"Well... Yes."

His eyes stray away from me and get lost in thought. "Zane is with the extra one."

"Oh,"is all I say. "Well I guess I'll just--"

Suddenly, he gives my arm a tug and pats the spot behind him. "You can stay here."

He wants me on his bed... With him?

Without a word I crawl up to the spot beside him.

He covers me up with the blanket and places his hand on my hair, slowly rubbing his thumb through it.

This is awfully weird.

"Goodnight... Jack-- and thanks."

I get no reply from him because he's already fast asleep.

I hope this will keep the nightmares away.

~~

My eyes flicker open from the sound of the door opening.

Jack places one plate of food on the table and a glass of blood next to it.

"Katherine."

My eyes open completely and I turn to face him. Is he actually waking me up to eat? That's so adorable.

"You look so pale... Almost like you're not even human."

Probably because I'm almost drained of blood.

I notice something land on my lap making me jump a little. But I look down to see a credit card.

"What's this for?"

"For you to buy yourself clothes."

He picks uo the glass of blood and takes a sip.

"More importantly, I'm not running to any damn store to buy you tampons."

~~

He didn't follow me on my shopping trip which didn't shock me at all. I'm just not comfortable with the fact that I'm vulnerable once again.

This store I'm in is owned by a human. That's why I even managed to find tampons. I don't know if to go for any expensive clothes because I have no idea how much is in this card.

He did tell me to buy whatever I wanted.

I guess I'll do that.

Entering the boutique there were a lot of vampires here. Thankfully looking pale and malnourished earns me less stares.

I pass by two vampires but I can't seem to ignore their conversation.

"It's kind of dangerous there though... So I've heard... Werewolves are there and I hate them so much... They think they're so strong,"one of them growls.

"I'm somehow thankful for the barrier though... It's a lot safer... And I would definitely not want to come across... What's the name of the place again?"

"Boonesville,"the other one replies.

Boonesville?

If I heard them right then I would assume Boonesville had Werewolves. Or is there more to it.

I shrug it off and proceed with my shopping. Of course I decide to go with outfits of the latest trend because I want to fit in.

It doesn't take too long before I'm done and back home. Jack isn't here so I set his credit card underneath his pillow.

The day ended fast and before I knew it I was back on the couch and snuggling under Jack's blanket.

But the sound of one thing kept my eyes open.

A howl.

A Wolf's howl.
