POV: Merry Paper
I rose with the dragon in the sky in panic when I saw the wave of monsters invading our world.
This wasn't supposed to happen!
Today, we were going to introduce the monster squad and train with the soldiers.
In one month, we should've been prepared for the assault. But why were we the ones taken by surprise?
The dragon I was riding let out a fire breath that killed dozens of monsters in one go.
This was a biological weapon that should be capable of holding up against the 3 headed dragons.
This was the best of Daniels and Steve's subjects.
A fire dragon.
As I was flying on its back, I looked at the battlefield once more.
The monsters came from the same place the last portal appeared.
From what the duo told me, it was a weak point in the shield of this world, and the most likely place where the invasion would start from.
We did some minimal defense in preparation for this, but we were counting on the soldiers to be strong enough to hold itself instead of traps.
The surprise attack wasn't something we anticipated, so the army took a few minutes to organize themselves.
But once it did, I realized that all the resources we invested weren't wasted.
While the monsters were armed and had the element of surprise, they were still dumb monsters.
One soldier from our army could easily take 10 zombies on his own. And the number was so low because the others would get in the way.
The skeleton's arrows weren't strong enough to damage their armor, and the creepers were always a priority for the golems.
Slimes were a surprise for us, and quite effective if you didn't know how to slash them properly.
If you didn't do it right, you'll soon be surrounded by those gelatinous rabbits and stuck in one place.
They can't damage you, but you also can't move from your spot.
The phantoms were kind of annoying as well, and always harassing the golems in the temple towers. So I would occasionally order my dragon to burn those blue bats to let the golems do their jobs.
The only ones left were the Endermans, which were a real reason for us to worry.
I didn't know if they were the smart ones Trader talked about, or were the same mindless ones we have in our world.
But either way, they were annoying to deal with.
They didn't have weapons like skeletons, but their punches were quite painful, even with diamond armor, and arrows seemed to be just a suggestion for them since nobody was able to land one in them.
But while they were tricky, they weren't invincible, so slowly they were dying like the others.
Since I didn't hear anyone scream words that I could understand, that most likely meant that they were the mindless ones, so I ignored them.
The monsters were great in numbers, and kept pouring from the portal. But surprisingly, we were actually gaining ground.
The soldiers got used to the mutated dogs, and the cavalry was already resting and waiting for the next phase.
The battle lasted for hours with no end in sight. Monsters kept coming from the portal like there was no end to them.
We had to attack in shifts so the soldiers could get some rest.
At one point, the monsters weren't the problem, but their corpse kept piling on top of each other and made the soldiers trip while fighting.
For some reason, their corpses didn't burn in the sun, and things got so bad that we couldn't even see the floor of our base.
It was getting dangerous, so from time to time I had to burn everything down to get rid of the smell and the corpses.
This turned out to be a great way to boost the morale of the army since the monsters would've just walked into a pit of fire, resulting in more fuel added to the fire.
It was a moment of relief and a break from the constant stress we were under.
Unfortunately, those didn't last for too long since the flames of the dragon were specially designed to be more powerful than the average flame.
So I had to use this method a few times throughout the day.
But unfortunately, I couldn't do this anymore.
Once the sun was down, the monsters stopped coming out from the portal, and for a moment I thought it was a chance to go inside and see what was beyond.
But I remembered the warning from Alex about our chances of survival If we went into the Void.
The dragon was the ruler of the Void, and if she managed to heal herself completely, she could kill me without moving a muscle.
She was the Void, and the Void was her.
I didn't have to wait for long to see the next wave of enemies, and once I saw them, I was very regretful that I wasn't satisfied with the common mobs.
What stepped beyond the gate wasn't one monster Lord, nor 2, but 4 Monster Lords!
Not only that, but I quickly recognized those Monster Lords, since they were the ones who invaded us in the past few years.
The Zombie Lord, Shadow Lord, Creepers Lord, and Lady Phantom.
I couldn't believe my eyes!
They were all supposed to be dead!
I've seen it with my own two eyes!
The huge creepers made a vacuum in space and brought the soldiers in several groups, then the Zombie Lord jumped towards one, while the shadow Lord used poisoned arrows from a distance.
I wasn't spared from this battle, as the lady Phantom was flying towards me while letting out more Phantoms from the shadow of her wings.
We didn't have a lot of information about her, but from what the Mad Prince told us, she was not good in combat, but she was good at trapping people.
I soon understood why, when the space around me began to form a barrier, trapping me and my dragon in a box.
The dragon tried to break it with its claws and fire breath, but it didn't give up that easily.
It was frustrating, but I guess I had to use my enchantments now.
But before I could fire up and begin my attack, the Phantom Lady was struck by something big.
The dragon and I were taken by surprise, and because of the Lady Phantom darkness, I couldn't quite see what it was.
"Yes, that's the battle I was waited for!"
The space returned to normal, and I realized who that person was.
The Mad Prince.
He was on top of a panter holding a Netherite spear in his hands.
Since he was having the fun of his life, I decided to ignore him and look over the battlefield.
I don't know how they appeared, but the Diamond Squad was also here, fighting with the Monster Lords and the common moobs who were now spewing once again from the portal.
While the common soldiers couldn't do a lot against the Zombie Lord, the modified animals seemed to do a great job and even had the upper hand.
But the more I looked at the chaos below, the more I felt that something was missing.
"They haven't spoken a word!"
Some Monster Lords are silen, but the huge Zombie would've taken any chance given to praise the Void.
And now that I was looking closer, I realized that they didn't have their intelligence anymore.
They were more like beasts with power than dangerous generals.
If we kept going like this, we could win in no time.
Unfortunately, my celebration was short-lived, as black mist was coming out of the portal, slowly covering the whole battlefield.
My people began to cough like they were having dust in their lungs, and even the animals were swinging from side to side to side.
Not only that, but it seems that the monsters were given a boost in strength and became even more reckless.
Things were getting bad, and then I heard another familiar voice.
"Ohh, they can bearly keep themselves awake in the presence of the Void. We should finish them in no time and help the Enderman afterwards."
"Indeed, it seems that he was unnecessarily worried."
"If I have to do less work, I won't complain."
From the portal came the 3 headed dragon, and its presence alone was enough to send shivers down my spine
At least from their conversation, I know that Trader is fighting on the other side.
That was good since, in the past few months, it was hard to get a hold of him.
He was busy with a big project, and nobody had the chance to give him the Chat.
But it wasn't his job to deal with the 3 headed dragon, it was ours.
So I took out my Chat and wrote to Daniel.
"You poor imitation of our greatness, how dare you look down on us!"
It seems that my pet was seen but not liked.
"I have one thing to say to you. FALL!"
Then out of the sky, huge Netherite arrows came that hit the dragon all over the place.
They weren't only 2 like last time, but 10 arrows!
And those ones were different as well.
Besides their sturdiness, they also had some enchantments or potion effects to do as much damage as possible.
This was the secret weapon we've been working so hard in the last few months, and the results were amazing!
The floor now had a huge hole, and the temple suffered as well.
Fortunately, we kind of expected that, and the soldiers were trained to battle as far away as possible from the portal so the arrows didn't hit our allies.
But the victory didn't last long, as the black mist began filled the newly made hole, and soon the dragon was back to life once again.
"Do they not know the concept of death?"
Suddenly, I heard a huge explosion above me that made my dragon wabble in panic.
The enemy took that opportunity and ripped the space apart to appear right beside me and take the fight close and personal.
My dragon was not the same size as the enemy, and 3 heads turned out to be too much for it to defend.
So all of us crashed to the ground making the battlefield more chaotic.
But there was some good news at least. The black mist was gone, and the soldiers were good to continue the fight.
We expected the first attack to fail, that's why we weren't discouraged.
Even though we gave all we got from the beginning, it wasn't enough to kill the dragon, but we now know that the mist from the Void could regenerate it, making it impossible to kill.
Luckily the mist was recharging very slowly, so I don't think the Dragon would revive again if we managed to kill it now.
The problem was, that I needed to pin the monster for 5 more minutes to recharge the Death Arrow, and my dragon was half dead.
"Well, this is what I've been training for."
I took a deep breath and activated all my enchantments on my body, which made me look like a beacon in darkness.
The world slowed down and became gray, I could now see the flow of the energy and realized that the Dragon had 3 cores inside of it.
I took one step, and I was in front of it, and it's eyes opened wide in surprise, I raised my fist and punched it in the chest which made a hole and threw the body backwards.
"That's the results of my training, so don't dare to look down on me!"
Fighting with a medium size God was no joke, and even to this day I couldn't beat it with all the advantages that I have.
But either way I was strong enough to hold my ground, and I wasn't going to waste all the resources that were invested in me.
"Time for round 2!"
