John responded indifferently, "I won't die."
Mark leaned on the car door and knew there was no way to persuade John, so he turned to Jane, "Miss Jane, could you help take care of John's wound when you get back?"
Jane responded perfunctorily with an "okay," but John didn't care anyway. These outsiders were just nosy, and especially his ex-wife, who had no qualifications to treat his injuries.
Alice Garcia took the opportunity to approach and stood by the car door, "Let me help John with his wound." Luckily, Jane's attitude was dismissive enough, which indirectly gave her the chance.
She tried to sit in the passenger seat, but John's cold voice interrupted her, "Drive."
The designated driver wasted no time and immediately started the engine and drove off.
Alice Garcia stomped her feet in anger and chased after the car for a few steps, but Kevin and Mark were tired and left without a second glance.
In a blink of an eye, Alice Garcia was the only one left in the parking lot. She had also been drinking, but no one had arranged a designated driver for her, so she had to make a phone call for help.
A quarter of an hour later, Carl drove over in a hurry.
As soon as Alice Garcia saw him, she started yelling at him, "What kind of business are you running? Do you even know that Jane has come back?"
Carl was surprised as he didn't know about Brandon Chen's post. "What do you mean? Grace Hayes clearly put the necklace in her luggage, and she has been arrested by the US police. The necklace is worth half a million dollars, and she's facing a serious felony charge. There's no way she could get out."
Alice Garcia angrily showed Carl Brandon Chen's post. "Not only did she come back, but she's also with Brandon Chen now. They even took a photo together and posted it on social media. Take a look for yourself. My parents probably know by now, and they may not agree to kick her out again."
Carl frowned. "Let me call Grace Hayes and see what's going on."
Alice Garcia got into Carl's car and urged him to go. On the way, Carl tried to call Grace Hayes, but she was unreachable.
Alice Garcia was furious. "This Grace Hayes is so unreliable. You need to find her and shut her up with money. Don't let her say anything."
Carl nodded. "I know."
In Lavender Manor, John had closed his eyes and leaned back on the sofa, with Jane standing in front of him.
His injured hand was resting on his knee, and the blood had clotted, so it wasn't bleeding anymore.
They both waited in silence, but he finally got impatient and opened his eyes. "Do you want to make Jill upset?"
If Jill saw him hurt, she would be sad.
Jane stiffened for a moment, then went to get the first aid kit. She cleaned his wound and used a pair of tweezers to remove some shards of glass that were stuck in his flesh. One piece was so small that she had to get very close to his palm to try to remove it, but he didn't even flinch. He could be so ruthless to himself, and even more so to others.
"Okay," after cleaning the glass out, she used a cotton swab to disinfect the wound with alcohol. After finishing the procedure, she was sweating profusely. "Don't let the wound get wet for a few days."
Finally, she covered the wound with a band-aid, so Jill wouldn't see it. "You should go home and be with Jill now."
As soon as she finished speaking, John's wrist suddenly hurt, and he grabbed her and threw her onto the sofa.
"What are you doing?"
He exuded a dangerous aura, and she was frightened, pressing against his chest, even her toes were tensed up.
