Me and You was a Was

I saw him, he is running across the road. I did not bother to wave at him but I had to, because he is giving me that huge wave. Its like saying hello and goodbye at the same time. That's makes me smile though, he can really make me smile. He never failed to do so. He was wearing his dandy clothes that he knows I hate.

If you can imagine the vest with printed checkered on it, and paired with his awkward black slacks, you can already feel his warmth. He was wearing his eyeglasses today, even though there's no actual use, it's just his props. Shoes, nope, he was wearing a slipper today. His smile is the cherry on top of his whole being today, its welcoming. That awkward, creepy old man was wearing his best today.

Meet my first ever first love and my former lover.

Yohan Kayang, a college criminology professor in our municipality. He stopped his weird large waves when I reached for his hands to stop it and he responded it with his small laugh. Yohan looked at me for a second, looked around for a minute before he gave me a hug just like he always did when it's just us. He turned me around as if checking for something so I just told him that I did not carry any bag today, or whatsoever because I just got my phone today; which exactly fit my jacket pocket.

We went inside the coffee and was met with the familiar smell of coffee that somewhat triggered some nostalgia in my brain. A happy nostalgia that was happy and was a past that I'm contented with. We are here today, to continue our friendship.

He ordered the usual plain black coffee that we can just actually do it at home but chose to drink it here because they have a delicious pancake here to pair it with our dark, bitter coffee.

"So what's with the outfit?", I asked with a teasing smile on my face

"oh! A seminar, I attended a seminar at Baguio" he said

"so what's with the coffee?" I immediately followed up

"oh, nothing, I just missed you"

He said without any change of emotion so I don't know how to feel. He might had felt my emotion that's why he said something to assure me.

"Really, I missed you and just hoped to talk to you" he calmly said while looking down at his unstirred coffee that they just bought to us earlier.

That assured me.

"So what's the seminar about?" I asked.

And stars lit up his eyes, words start to come out of his mouth continuously. He is unstoppable now, he is excited, and I was enthralled with his stories. Darkness curtained the window of the café when he finished his tale about the seminar that he attended. I like how he was always excited to share whatever he wants to and is still comfortable to share it with me.

We had a hot cup of black coffee and finished it up with the now cold second order of black, bitter coffee. Yohan offered to pay and I gladly said yes because that's what we agreed upon. I will pay for the next meet up. Yohan was going down the the stairs first and was sharing a funny story that we were both laugh at. I was about to tell mine when I observed a sudden shift of his movement. A cold stare reflected on his eyes, a snappy salute was performed, and a firm statue of him remained. Then I saw some shadows of his students saluting him that made me stop and turned my back. I faced the wall on a sudden thought, I don't know why.

I waited for the footsteps to disappear before I turned my back and was surprised to see his cold stare disappear and a welcoming stare was there in his eyes now. I applaud how fast he is in changing his aura. Yohan Kayang, was now once again in his warm aura, and was now asking about the funny story that I was about to tell.

We are just a few steps away from my house so we decided to say our good bye. I looked at him dearly and he looked at me confused, silence enveloped us.

"I'm waiting for a kiss", I said nonchalantly

"What?" he asked, with more confusion but really was ready, he was leaning towards me

"ha, ha-ha," I laughed, I thought I was just teasing him

So he looked at me even more confused innocently.

"I don't think we should still do this", I said almost in a whisper. And waved him my goodbye that is certainly not the last.

I could feel now the cold now, now that he is not there blocking it for me. I saw his back walking coolly as ever and couldn't help but call his name once again.

"Yohan" I said, but not too loud

"YOHAN!!!" I shouted and he turned back, run back towards me alarmed and was wondering.

I held his hands, tip toed, and reached a kiss on his check. A thank you kiss, a supposed. He might had remembered it also that's why he hugged me and both of us let out our sigh and cried in our hearts.

Me and Yohan both knew, and both agreed that we should not cry. It's not the time or it's not the time yet, it's just upcoming.
