Chapter 38 Sweet Dreams

(Morgan Agathias)

I was tense and not only was I tense, but they were all tense too. Lyra's hands were very cold, I could feel that the girl was tense as well as I was. Helen what else, the pale girl looked incredibly tense.

This time it is Ian Vaude who will be the host of the daily program and will be the one who will announce the assessment we will get. He was a strange person and indeed the people of Calista looked strange the way they dressed, especially his hair which was dyed a corn-yellow color which looked unnatural. Wearing a red dotted green tuxedo, I even looked like the clown Calista.

There is no prohibition for me to criticize their strange-looking dress style. But this time, I didn't mind their strange style of dress. What's on my mind is anxiety, the values that will be displayed on the screen. There are one hundred and four participants and there are thirteen teams. Andalus being the host will be the first to demonstrate the values of the team's participants.

The Santa Islands team scored 20, out of their participants who scored the average. Team Star and Team Crescent got 40, not very high scores and only average. Even the Snow Mountain Team and Grass Plains Team were only able to score 39. The teams from Andalus did not live up to expectations at all, with their scores very low. Luckily saved with Team Calista getting a 90, with their team members getting an average score of 9 to 11.

Our team's turn will be announced. My whole body freezes, I can't calm down. They also can't calm down, even just to take snacks on the table, they can't.

"Individual rating for the Hill Valley Team. Minerva Annabelle with a... 9." Minerva usually looked cold and uncaring, the cold girl seemed to take a deep breath many times. Getting a score of 9 is not bad either, even a score of nine is quite high, approaching the highest score of 12.

Finral and Wendy got an 8, Gray got the same 9 as Minerva. David and Lyra got 10 marks, not average anymore, quite high in fact. Lastly, Ian said my name. Which made me even more annoyed and wanted to shoot him in the head, because he made me hang.

"Morgan Agathias, with a... 12. Perfect score."

This can't be happening? Did I get a 12? Perfect score?

Their cheers and David's complaints almost made my ears go deaf, even my body couldn't react. Lyra's sudden hug brought me back to reality, the braid hair girl was very enthusiastic. Very strange. So far I have always shown unfriendly faces to Calista people, they have never liked me.

"Oh, of course, the jury likes that," said Professor Lupin.

"And don't forget your intelligence and you're handsome require the judges to be willing to give you a perfect score, Morgan." Sheilla was even more enthusiastic than before.

Before they toasted, the final score was for Team Valley Hill's undisclosed scores. Ian's talent as a presenter is good at making the audience curious with the mysterious look on his face. "The Hill Valley Team with a score of 91."

We were even more enthusiastic, cheering with the score we got one point above Team Calista. Glasses filled with wine shot up, cheering 'Hill Valley Team Victory'. I didn't go with them, cheers and toasts. But, deep inside, I felt happy and saw my spirit magic level increase by several levels. Spirit magic level 15, my power level has risen by leaps and bounds.

Lyra and David were level 16, one level below me. Wendy, Finral, and Helen leveled up by 13, and Gray and Minerva leveled up by 14. The power level of our spirit magic has increased tremendously. With the increase in the power level of our present spirit magic, we are not very satisfied. The three strongest teams are at their peak, although Team Calista's score should be below Team Valley Hill's. Wolf Feather Team scored 94 and North Dragon Team scored 95, with their magic spirit power already reaching level 20.

Like heaven and earth. Our joy at the high marks obtained, and the spirit magic power level being raised by several levels did not make us enthusiastic. By the break of dawn the next day, 'The Magus Games' would begin. We had no enthusiasm at all, our enthusiasm for joy only went astray. We'll be let off in the arena the judges and Head Game Magus have decided on. I don't know what deadly trap awaits, what battle arena will be given to us?

"You guys should get as much rest as possible, get enough rest and no one is allowed to wander around in the middle of the night." That's just a little advice from Professor Lupine, of course, we will follow all his advice. We returned to our respective rooms, waiting for that day to come.

My eyes can't close, I can't even sleep well this time. My heart beats very fast, my eyes are not sleepy at all. I can't sleep tonight, waiting for tomorrow. I got out of bed, out of the room greeted silence. Downstairs is also dark, there is no activity whatsoever. Maybe they're all asleep.

I just walked aimlessly, got into the elevator, and pressed the top button. Of course, going up to the top floor, the elevator stopped instantly. Coming out of the elevator, I was greeted with a view of a garden filled with flowers and large glass windows showing the sparkling city of Calista, which is never devoid of noise. At the edge of the glass window, someone was sitting, staring at the cacophony of noise below.

"Morgan, you haven't slept yet?" Lyra asked, but her eyes never left the scene outside.

"I couldn't sleep. Got some fresh air and ended up here."

Lyra patted right next to him. I sat face to face with her, only... the girl turned her face to the sparkling view out there. I followed what the girl did. Seeing the sparkling atmosphere outside, I could hear the noise in the middle of the night. The people of Calista love to have fun late into the night, betting on which team will come out victorious. We are like an animal on which to bet.

But this time, I like the beautiful scenery that Calista has. Even though it was very noisy outside, I enjoyed the sparkling colorful lights that enveloped the beauty of Calista. The sparkling light and noise of Calista were in stark contrast to the darkness and silence of the Valley of the Hills.

"I miss Mama." From here alone I can see the tears falling, flowing down Lyra's pretty face.

Lyra missed home, missed her mother who was left alone in her small house. Longing for the tiny house where only Lyra and her mother live. Same as me. I miss my father, mother, and Gisella. At least Gisella isn't alone, there are still mother and father accompanying my little sister. Lyra only has her mother, she only lives alone with her mother. 'The Magus Games' caused Lyra to be separated from her mother for a while, who knows how long.

If we manage to win the game 'The Magus Games, come out victorious. We will be able to return home, reunite with the families we have left long ago.

"What if we don't win?" The tears turned into rivers, wetting Lyra's pretty face. The look in his eyes made me so sad. "What if we never make it home again?"

I couldn't bear to see Lyra cry, in her slump and the thought of never coming home again. Her mother was waiting for her at home, but she would never find out where her daughter was again once and for all. That tiny body is very fragile, my warm embrace was not able to calm her trembling little body.

If I may, I also want to cry like Lyra. Imagining that I would never return home, my father, mother, and Gisella were waiting for me at home. The door to that little house would not open again, no one would come home, and my room would feel lonely and cold. Mother and Gisella cried in my room, father found it difficult to show his expression after losing his beloved son.

"We will win and return home safely." I convinced myself, and so I should be able to convince Lyra.

Long hair that is not braided, just tied up soberly. Lyra's hair was so silky when my hand stroked her head, the smell of her hair that I was very familiar with was that of strawberries. The girl likes strawberries, especially strawberry jam buns. Reminds me of the Hob and the cypress trees at the entrance of the Hob, and the figure of a little girl huddled under a tree, taking shelter from the pouring rain.

If I hadn't gone to the Hob and given Lyra the strawberry jam, I probably wouldn't have known her and I probably wouldn't be as close to her. Like a thread of fate that made me meet Lyra, my sincerity to stay with her. As a friend, a best friend... a girl who starts to fill my heart.

I don't know this feeling. However, my lips always say that Lyra is my best friend, contrary to my heart which says Lyra is someone who has started to fill my heart.

Lyra had stopped crying, her breathing steady. The girl fell asleep in my arms. I didn't want to wake him up, in his chaotic and unstable state. I picked her up and took her back to the unit which was still deserted. Take the little girl to the room, and lay her on the bed. Not forgetting I covered her tiny body, gave a warm kiss on her forehead, and said 'good night and sweet dreams' as a lullaby.

Tomorrow has started the game 'The Magus Games'. The judges and game creators have provided a deadly arena for us to appear to fight to the last drop of blood.

As the leader of the Hill Valley Team, I will not let my comrades get hurt. I will ensure victory only for Valley of the Hills.
