Just a kiss

Time stood still as Tang Zhixi stared into his eyes. Her fingers tightened around the delicate lace of her dress, her breath catching in her throat as his words echoed in her mind, carrying a weight that sent a shiver down her spine.

"W-what?" she breathed, her voice a mere whisper, barely audible.

Pei Xingcheng's lips curved into a wry smile as he ran his fingers through his disheveled hair. "That's right, Miss Ghost," he chuckled softly. "Tell me, what have you done to me? Why am I feeling like this? Why am I unable to control myself when I am around? Why do I want to get closer and closer and closer to you? Why is my heart pounding so fast in my chest?" 

Before she could respond, he grabbed her ice-cold hand and guided it toward his chest, pressing it against his rapidly beating heart. "Can you feel it?"
