It was still a bit early to go to bed and Cindy Richards was not tired anyway so she pulled out her design materials and sat down. There were many things she needed to do and one of them was getting an internship or a job in design.
There were many design companies but she needed a solid portfolio to even consider getting shortlisted by them. Alexander Sterling's company had a design team but it would be very embarrassing to ask him for help.
She had received a lot of money from Cindy Ming that she could not even spend it all if she wanted to yet she still felt the need to wake up in the morning and work towards earning her own money.
She drew some sketches and put them aside, all of them were of dresses she would love to be made later. Fashion and design were complex and she needed something exceptional to break through the industry with.
There were a lot of idols and celebrities who needed stylists and those stylists needed excellent designs so that their artist's choice of clothing would appeal to the fans and Cindy Richards wanted to be that person for them.
She drew for a long time that she did not even notice that it was already nighttime. She had even forgotten to eat lunch. Alexander Sterling pressed the keys and entered after he got off of work.
The lights were dim and his wife was sitting on the living room floor focused on something she was doing.
This scene was almost dreamlike. He had wanted this to happen for a very long time and now that it did, he simply stood there and watched her in silence.
He had known Cindy Richards when she was still just a child but the first time she saw him, she had been fifteen.
Back then, life was simpler. He would go to her house and spend the whole day in the garden with her. She would look at flowers, give compliments here and there and laugh loudly. She had been such a bright spirit that his heart started beating weirdly whenever she was around.
Many things happened later but now she was actually his wife, it was very unbelievable.
He walked over and greeted her softly, "How was your day?"
Cindy Richards looked up from the papers and smiled, "Not bad."
Alexander Sterling nodded and said nothing more. He sat down at the side and watched her draw. He was very tired from work and looking at her surprisingly made his tiredness go away. The dim lights illuminated her magnificently.
A strand of stray hair was almost dropping on the brushes at the side so he leaned down to brush it away. Cindy Richards was a bit surprised by this action so she turned his way and their eyes met.
Alexander Sterling's dark irises bored deep into her brown ones. There was something dancing in them and the tension started rising inexplicably. Alexander Sterling looked to the side and tucked the hair back. His fingers gently brushed her skin and Cindy Richards felt sparks.
She was brought back to her senses and coughed. She looked away with a very red face that she was trying to hide. Alexander Sterling's handsome face was still on her mind so she made an excuse to leave first and then hurried to her bedroom.
Her heart was beating very fast so she placed a hand over it. This should not happen often, she thought because if it did, with the suppressed feelings she had, then it would be very difficult to control herself.
Alexander Sterling smiled when he watched her leave. His heart was also hammering in his chest. He turned to look at the designs she had left on the table and picked one up.
He looked at the designs keenly. They were intricate and detailed. There was something about them that was eye-catching. He looked to the side and saw a drafted application for a job. He looked at the paper for a long time and then went to his room to take a shower.
Although they were married, they slept in different rooms because Cindy Richards was still not very comfortable with this kind of arrangement. They had a lot of easing to do, Alexander Sterling could wait.
After his shower, he went down to the kitchen and fixed something for the two of them. Cindy Richards had once told him that if he chose a husband, she would want one who knew how to cook and take care of her. She had been pampered by her parents growing up and she did not know how to cook so she had to compensate with a husband who knew how to.
Her face had been very cute back then. She was eating some steamed buns when she suddenly asked, "What kind of wife does Brother Alexander want to marry when he grows up?"
Alexander Sterling had produced a towel and handed it to her, "What about you, what husband do you want?"
Cindy Richards had thought about it for a very long time and answered, "I want someone who will protect me and also cook for me. I don't care whether he is rich or poor, all I want is a sincere heart and a stomach full of hot food!"
Alexander Sterling had then stared at her deeply, "Is that so…"
After that, he went back home and took cooking lessons. He wanted to be the best cook in the world so that he could make her the best dishes to ensure her stomach was always warm.
After preparing the meal, he went and knocked on her door, "Come down."
He knew she had not eaten anything since morning. Starving herself like that was very dangerous and he had to put an end to it.
Cindy Richards went down in her pink pyjamas and socked feet. She waddled across the room and exclaimed when she got to the kitchen, "Wow…"
