Chapter 29 – A New Weapon

Robert's POV

After having tea, me, William, Emma, and Peter decided to go around Keystone. Luckily Max will be our tour guide because he knew about the city, given that he had been living here since birth. And as we walk down the street, Max was explaining about the wonders of the city, including an old house belonged to one of the most affluent and influential merchants in the whole kingdom. We were listening to him while I was jotting down some notes using a pencil and a small leather journal. Emma seems to be bored while William and Peter already knew those things because they used to live here. I, on the other hand, had never been here before. The afternoon was beautiful, with people going around on the streets and stalls and their owners are constantly advertising their products and services to customers.

Not long after, we arrived at a large marketplace in the center of the city with a big fountain in the center of the place itself. Max explained to us that the marketplace offered products in cheap prices. The place was busy, especially if it was in the afternoon and the holidays. In this case, it was the winter season so it was hectic and busy. Along the way, we looked at unique and regular products while the voices of the sellers mixed in the atmosphere. Then, shortly thereafter, I couldn't help but notice a katana on sale at a stall that sells swords and other handheld weapons.

"Welcome to my shop," the seller of that stall greeted. "What would you like, young man?"

Pointing at the katana on sale, I asked him about the katana itself.

"Oh this?" the seller responded back. "This one of our finest katanas from Kita. It's made of iron and a little bit of tungsten, titanium, and cobalt."

But the origin of this weapon really surprises me, and I asked, "From Kita? You mean the Shogunate of Kita?"

The seller nodded. "Yes, like I said, it's one of the finest katanas from that nation."

"I see," I responded back. "How much is that?"

"That'll be 90 gold coins." the seller stroked the scabbard, "but for now, we lowered it to 75 instead, plus a free scabbard. How's that sound?"

While I was thinking about buying it, Max and the others came to me asking what I was doing.

Upon hearing that, I turned to my right and responded, "Oh, hey guys, I was just thinking about buying a katana for myself."

"Really?" Max replied in surprised. "You want a katana? Why?"

"Are you going to join the army or something?" William added.

"Not really," I responded. "I just wanted one so I could take Masanori-san's sword training class and going on adventures."

"I see. Well, which one to be exact?" Peter asked.

I then pointed my finger towards the same katana on sale for a couple of seconds. "That one. It only costed 75 gold coins, plus a free scabbard for it."

"I see," Peter replied. "Okay, but are you sure about it?"

To that I think again for a while, before answering, "You know what, guys? I want to try something new. I don't want to waste my time regretting not trying something new."

Then, Peter and William eventually nodded in agreement, with William saying, "Go for it."

With that, I get my wallet, get some gold coins, and gave it to the seller, saying, "I'll take that katana."

Receiving the money, the seller gave the katana in its scabbard to me. "Be careful while using it, okay?"

Receiving the katana, I nodded. "I will. Thanks."

With that me and my group eventually left that stand and, seeing that it was already sunset, went back to the Lightningheart compound before sundown. And so, I had my first weapon ever other than weapons made of magic.
