No Attributes?

After a night's sleep her body is feeling better than what it was last night, and her mind has been refreshed. Looking in the mirror she can finally see what she looks like now.

It's about seven tenths similar to her last life but her body is emaciated, bruised with scars all over her body and a gnarly one on her lip. She's currently in pretty bad condition but thankfully she's not at risk of just randomly croaking.

After taking a minute to get a grasp of the new her, she couldn't help but comment,

"I in fact do have haunting gray eyes but I don't know what that bastard skank bitch was going on about, they're pretty nice if you ask me."

She said while confidently blinking her sunken eyes.

After relishing in her looks and lack thereof she focused on what's next on her agenda, money! In this life she can finally feel the joy of making money and spending money instead of the joy of slowly peeling the skin off of a target or reading novels when on a task.

"On second thought, maybe I'll try to leave that hobby behind…. sigh…. well, I'll just leave it to my mood hehe"

Going over what she could do to earn money Shiy decided to throw a cloak on and go into town to gather some intel.

Worst comes to worse than she'll just bring out some prescriptions or something but she'd rather not at the moment since she can't even currently kill a fly with this body. Not to mention if they will even be useful here.

Walking through the streets she could hear hawkers selling products and various people, it looked a little crowded, so she decided to stop someone to ask: "Excuse me, I see it's busy over there. Is there an event going on today?"

The man looked down at the small, cloaked figure:

"Huh? Oh, it's the Mellion Academy, they're testing attributes to see if there's any possible candidates to recruit"

Shiy thanked the man and decided to go over and test it out, it saves her the time of finding it out later. Getting closer to the crowd she can see a row of nicely dressed tutors and an elderly man in the back watching the fiasco.

There's a young man at the side yelling for the children to get in one of the lines to get tested so she joined the queue.

Looking around the crowd she can hear the excited rumble and gossip of the other kids.

From what she's gathered the teachers of Mellion Academy come here once a year to test the attributes of the participants. Every time they're here they stay for a week to test.

Thankful for her luck she stood obediently not drawing any attention to herself. Slowly moving up the queue it was almost her turn.

Once it was her turn the tester looked at her and instructed:

"Put your hand on this crystal and concentrate, it will light different colors depending on your attribute."

Doing what the instructor said Shiy closed her eyes and waited for a result. peeping with one eye she saw there was no reaction and asked:

"Excuse me, is this broken?"

The instructor looked at her with slight contempt and a little pity and explained:

"Unfortunately, you don't have any attributes, you will have almost no results on the path of a mage. Next in line please!"

A little baffled and unsure she decided to say fuck it and their rules. I have no attributes.

Maybe my canvas is just blank waiting for me to decide what colors I want, bah!

Not discouraged at all, she decided to see if this place had any type of black market or hidden market to see if there were any tasks she could do to get money. After walking through some alleys and crossing some streets she arrived at a 4-story black sleek style building with a store sign that says Black Hall.

After inquiring she found out that it's not a black shop, so it has no issues being out in the open but in fact no one dares offend this place due to its strong background.

Stepping through the doors she couldn't help but complement the layout in her heart, everything is clean and neat and there are some strong breaths hidden in the dark, so she somewhat has an understanding about what type of place this is.

going up to the counter she asked the clerk if there's anyone who's asking for help with any tasks like with any skills or pills or any unanswered questions that can be answered for some coin.

The clerk looked down at what looked like a lost child and asked if they were in fact lost. Shiy reassured them that she wasn't and pointed back to the question she had just asked.

The clerk contemplated for a second before nodding and pointing to a board over there in the corner.

The clerk quickly explained that it has various tasks and questions left by people from outside and by members of the Black Hall for a fee. It offers various rewards if the answer is correct.

Satisfied, Shiy thanked the clerk and headed to the board to inspect what it had to offer, and the clerk was in fact not lying.

The board hosted anything from refinement questions, looking for materials, and a variety of people looking for answers for just about anything you could think of.

Shiyanna looked at the clerk and asked: "If I answer the question properly, how does the payment work?"

"Once the question is answered you can bring the ticket from the board, and we have two options. One is you can place the question and answer into that box, and it will be teleported to headquarters and they will verify, and it will be sent within an hour or more depending on the difficulty, and I will distribute your payment if your answer is verified correct. Or you can leave it with me, and I will inform the customer and they will verify it themselves and then we will notify you to come accept payment. Option one is faster, but you get less of a reward and option two you'll get the whole reward but depending on the question it could take a while. But you can only accept 5 tasks at a time, once you go over the allotted time to answer the task will be reposted on the board and you won't be able to accept any more for half a year as punishment."

Fearing that this was just a kid coming to play around the clerk emphasized on the latter half.

Shiy nodded and turned back to the board to go over the questions, after mulling it over she pulled one down and asked the clerk for a pen to write the answers.

Why only one? She needed to see if what she knows can be applied here in her new world.

Question: I need a potion recipe that can relieve muscle fatigue, my grandfather is getting up in age and his current medication stopped working. Even if it's only a little, any result will be rewarded as long as it works. Reward:2,000 silver.

She decided to put her answer in the box for fast results and sat to the side and waited for her answers to be checked.

Just in case the herb names are different she drew them in detail and wrote their characteristics along with the method of refinement. Once the hour was up the clerk buzzed and took out a paper and after reading it she was baffled and looked up at the small figure sitting in the lobby.

Feeling eyes on her Shiy looked up and met the eyes of the clerk with inquiring eyes.

"Honored guest your answer was correct, and the higher ups are extremely satisfied with your answer, give me a second while I gather your reward. Here you go; after taking out the fee's your reward is 1,000 silver and the money is deposited on this card."

The clerk continued to explain,

This card can be used at any establishment and you can go to any bank to withdraw money. Just put a drop of blood onto the card to be recognized as the owner. You are now a bronze member of our Black Hall. That card not only serves as a means to store money but as your identity in the Black hall."

After the clerk explained the benefits of this card and how it can be used anywhere Shiy left content. Leaving the Black hall, she noticed she wasn't being followed and decided to come here next time she needed to make some cash.

Looking at the setting sun she decided to stop and buy some necessities to take back home.
