Meanwhile, Lynn struggled with his boss and his problems, Dexter started to think that everything came back to how it was.
He was again working at the café and stood and talked with his friend, Connor, which made him already forget about Lynn, but not completely.
One day, Dexter and Connor were at the counter, cleaning and wiping the marks left by the coffees made earlier.
The café wasn't too fancy, but more of something simple and relaxing. The counter was placed right in front of the door, you take some steps and you're there, and to the left were the tables and chairs beautifully arranged, and on the walls are placed shelves on which books and plants are placed that warm the atmosphere.
It was simple and pretty and everyone liked coming here. Dexter and Connor were the most kind, generous and hilarious workers from there, so everyone liked to come and talk with them.
After almost 8 days after the incident, when Dexter didn't see Lynn at all, he was taking someone's order when a guy entered the door.
He was a very tall guy, dressed all in black with a hood on his head and two grey sparkling eyes which darkened the entire place.
Dexter took the order and then looked at Lynn who was staring down at him with his frightening expression, as always.
Dexter gathered some courage and asked: "Why are you here? I was done getting involved with you."
Lynn took off his hood and said, full of himself: "You might be done, but I'm not. I need you to come with me."
Dexter wanted to comment on his reply, but Connor interrupted: "Excuse me, sir, but who are you and what do you want from Dexter?"
Lynn glared at him while saying: "I have some important business to complete, so I need him to come with me. I don't have to give more explanation to you."
"Yes, you do! Because he's my friend and I don't want some creepy guy to take him out of here without having a good reason!" Connor again interrupted.
Dexter, not wanting the two to start a fight and eventually Connor to end dead, said hesitating: "I'm going to talk with him outside. If the boss asks something let him know I'm in front of the café."
Lynn and Dexter left the café, but Lynn couldn't act because Connor had his eyes on them. Lynn got out a cigarette and lit it up.
Dexter asked, bothered by Lynn's behavior: "So, are you going to tell me what the fuck are you doing here or are you just going to smoke your cigarette and act like nothing happened?!"
Lynn glanced at Dexter and answered him after taking another heavy drag from the lit cigarette. He told him he came to take him to his boss because he wanted to see him.
Dexter asked, a bit scared: "What do you mean? Why does he want to meet me?"
Lynn answered: "Everything that happens is arriving to his ears, including the fact that I took care of you at my house. He called me a few days ago and told me to bring you to him, but I don't exactly know if I should..."
"Excuse you! I don't want to come! I'm not forced by anyone!" Dexter complained while frowning.
Lynn answered him with arrogance: "Yes, you are. Either you come with me, or you'll be dead. And I'm being serious."
Dexter couldn't understand why was he the one who needed to go. They could've just found someone else, but no.
Dexter asked, trying not to seem afraid of it: "Can I... think it a bit? Please..."
At that moment, Dexter touched Lynn's sensitive spot and he couldn't hold himself back. He placed his hand on Dexter's cheek and said: "Sure, but I'll come back when your shift ends. Think about it, please. I don't want you to end up in that monster's hands, but I don't want something bad to happen to you either. I don't have any other choice."
Dexter's eyes widened as he listened to Lynn's words. He seemed so... sincere... like he talked from his heart, not his mind. Dexter nodded and let Lynn go as he entered back into the café.
Now, Dexter had to invent a lie so he could tell Connor, and Lynn had to call his boss to give him the news. Neither of the situations was better.
Lynn walked by the buildings and the houses on the street, wondering about all that happened. The moment when Dexter begged Lynn to let him think about what he wanted to do, is like a knife stabbing him. It was a weird feeling.
Seeing Dexter with that face and hearing the way he begged him... was weird for Lynn. Such a strange feeling coming out of nowhere, he couldn't help but let Dexter think.
He could've just taken him by his hand, thrown him in the car, and left, after the plan, but two things stopped him: Dexter's friend and the thought of Dexter being tortured.
Lynn liked seeing people being tortured when it was him the one who was torturing the victim, but it wasn't the same way there.
Everything was new to Lynn, every thought, every feeling he had, absolutely everything. Even the situation was strange and completely different from the others.
After a long time of thinking, he finally decided to call his boss to announce him about Dexter.
His boss's thick voice spoke: "So, did you catch the boy?"
Lynn said hesitating: "I couldn't, sir. I didn't have when."
His boss sighed. "Do I need to set anyone else to do it? Aren't you able to catch a boy and bring him here?! Just how incompetent are you?!"
Lynn answered: "I'm sorry, sir, but if I caught him right away we will surely be dead."
His boss frowned and yelled: "Huh?! What the fuck do you mean by dead?!"
"His friend saw me going outside with him, so it was pretty obvious. We should've come up with a plan." Lynn complained.
"You should've come up with a plan, not me! It is your mission, idiot!" his boss told him.
There were a few moments of silence when no one said anything. Just when Lynn was about to say something, he heard his boss sighting.
"Listen, you bastard, if you don't bring that guy to me this night, I'm going to cut his head off. Understood?!" his boss screamed through the phone.
Lynn said while biting his lower lip: "Yes, sir. I understand. I'll do everything I can."
His boss hung up the phone and Lynn just stared blankly. He didn't have any other choice but to bring Dexter to his boss, or else he'll be dead.
He was walking down the street, wondering if there was no other way of keeping Dexter away from his boss, but unfortunately, nothing came into his mind.
It was a true carousel of emotions and thoughts here and a game at which no one, not Lynn or his boss, could lose.
