Wound

As blood started flowing out of Dexter's wound, his breath was slowly stopping. Dexter didn't hear the water anymore, but he was still holding the knife.

The bathroom door wide opened and Lynn got out shirtless, only with a towel around his lower part. His hair was wet and so was his entire body.

Lynn's eyes went to the couch. No sign of Dexter. Then his eyes spotted the kitchen and they widened as fast as the speed of light.

He immediately rushed to Dexter and slapped his hands, causing the knife to fall beside them and its blade to cut Lynn's palm, straight in the middle.

Dexter immediately fell to his knees with tears in his eyes while Lynn got down next to him and was all panicked.

"Dexter! Dexter! What happened to you? What was in your mind?! Dexter, for fuck's sake, talk to me!" he said angrily as he was holding tight onto Dexter's hand.

Lynn looked with a concerned look at Dexter who kept his head on the ground, crying and shaking from head to toe.

"Dexter..." Lynn sighed. "Wanna talk to me? Please..."

Dexter just nodded as he let himself be dragged into Lynn's arms. Dexter spotted Lynn's palm and took it in his shaky hands to take a better look.

"You..." that's all he could manage to say before Lynn interrupted him.

"Me what? Don't worry about me now. Tell me what the hell were you trying to do just now?"

Dexter kept crying as he held Lynn's hand tight. He sniffled before saying "I... I just... I can't handle this anymore..."

Lynn raised an eyebrow. He took Dexter in his arms and carried him to the couch where he took off his shirt to see the wound he made with the knife.

"It's not a big wound though... it could've been worse than this." he said as he took a towel and soaked it in betadine.

He slowly placed the towel on Dexter's wound. He was carefully trying to clean it without hurting him.

Dexter was gazing at him and his careful movements. He then spotted Lynn's palm again. Instead of taking care of his wounds, Lynn took care of Dexter's.

After he was done, Lynn went and cleaned his wound in the kitchen as he put the knife in the sink. He came back and sat down next to Dexter.

"What were you trying to do? Kill yourself?" Lynn asked as he raised an eyebrow.

When Dexter heard those words his eyes filled with tears once again. He sobbed a bit before answering.

"I think so..."

Lynn sighed heavily. "You won't do such a thing again until I die. Understood? Why did you even do that? You could've got badly injured, you know that?" he said in a mad tone.

"I know... But I just wanted... I wanted to end all of this."

"What do you mean?" he raised an eyebrow.

"I'm sick of being... I'm sick of going every day to see that monster. I don't want to go anymore. I'm tired of it." Dexter sobbed.

"Is this the only reason?"

"I'm always tired... I'm not even in the mood to see anyone or go to work... I don't want this."

Lynn sighed and then wrapped his hand around his waist, pulling him closer and kissing his forehead.

"It'll be all right. Paul and I will solve this. You'll be okay. Just don't try to do such things again, please."

Dexter calmed down and nodded while he tried to show a smile. He hugged Lynn tight and kissed his cheek.

"Is your hand all right?" he asked as he raised his head.

"It is, don't worry. I'm more concerned about you now than myself. I want you to be fine."

Dexter's mouth slowly widened into a sweet and gentle smile. He hugged Lynn tighter as he rested his head on his shoulder.

Lynn closed his eyes and let his mouth talk from his heart instead of his mind. "I love you." he said.

Dexter's smile faded. "What?" he asked sure that he misheard what Lynn just said.

"I love you." he opened his eyes and looked at him. "What? Is there something wrong?"

Dexter blushed as the smile appeared again on his face. "No, nothing. Is just strange to hear that from you." he chuckled.

"In life you make sacrifices." he smiled. "But seriously now, is there a problem with that?"

Dexter placed his hand on his chin as he looked up. "Hmm, I guess it's all right since it came from you."

Lynn smiled and then cupped Dexter's face with his hands. He leaned forward and kissed him on the lips for some seconds.

When he pulled back, he looked deep into his eyes and smiled. "I love you, all right? Believe me. Please don't try to do such things again. Just talk to me, ok?"

Dexter nodded with a smile.

"Well, you have three days. What do you want to do?" Lynn asked.

"Can I stay here?" he asked with a bit of hope.

"Of course. After this, I'm not leaving you alone."

"Can I sleep with you?" he asked, again with hope.

"Sure." he got up and took Dexter in his arms.

Lynn carried him to his bedroom and placed him on the bed as he sat down next to him.

"Why are you being so nice all of a sudden?" Dexter asked curiously.

"What?" he raised an eyebrow as he turned to him.

"I'm just asking... you don't have to answer."

"Isn't this obvious? Because I love you."

Dexter smiled softly and leaned on the back of the bed. Lynn sighed.

"Can we cuddle? Please?" Dexter made puppy eyes.

"Why are you asking me? Do whatever you want."

"But I want you to be comfortable too. That's why I ask you."

"All right, come here." he opened his arms and Dexter stuck his body against him in his embrace.

Lynn kissed Dexter's forehead and let him sleep peacefully in his arms. To Lynn's surprise, Dexter fell asleep faster than he expected.

For some minutes, Lynn stood and stared at Dexter sleeping while he wondered why didn't noticed his beauty from the beginning. And why now.
