Those three days were relaxing for Dexter, but now he and Lynn went back to work.
Dexter entered the café early in the morning and saw Connor getting everything ready for another long day of work. His eyes brightened when he saw Dexter.
"Hey! Dexy! How are you?" he rushed to hug Dexter.
"Good now that I took three days off. I relaxed." he smiled.
Connor grabbed Dexter's shoulders and looked at his face. "Yes. You look better. Come on! We have to work!" he said excitedly as he grabbed Dexter's hand.
"What's with this excitement?" Dexter chuckled as they went into the changing room.
"Guess what! You know Rose, don't you?" Connor sat down next to Dexter as he took his clothes out.
"Yes. Isn't she the new girl who came to work here? The one you had a crush on or something?" Dexter raised his eyebrow.
"Exactly, you smart ass! I asked her out and she said yes! Can you believe it?!" he said very excited.
"Chill. I'm happy that you found a girlfriend." Dexter smiled. "It seems like I missed many things these three days."
"When will you find a girlfriend, Dexy? You're 23!" Connor said with puppy eyes.
"And what? Is there an age limit for making a partner? I don't know, Connor. I'm pretty busy. I don't have time for that." he got up. "Let's go now."
Connor and Dexter walked back to the counter. Dexter was curious. He wanted to know more about this Rose Connor was going out with.
"So, when are you going out with this girl?" he asked with a grin.
"On Friday at 7. Goddamn, I'm so excited!" Connor said, almost jumping from happiness.
Dexter chuckled. The customers started to come and soon the cafe was full of people and Dexter and Connor were working hard.
Somewhere at 3, someone entered the door and Dexter's eyes shone with happiness. He ran to him and hugged him tight. He seemed more happy than usual.
"Lynn!" Dexter jumped in his arms. "What are you doing here?" he smiled.
"Well, I came to see you and to deliver the greatest news." he smiled back.
"Sit down while I make you a coffee and then you'll tell me." Dexter turned to leave but Lynn took his hand.
"I don't drink coffee so late." he whispered. "Just bring me water."
Dexter nodded and hurried up to bring Lynn water. Connor caught him by his hand. "Why is he here?" he asked, his tone slightly mad.
"Don't worry, Connor. He won't do anything. Trust me." he gave him an encouraging smile and brought Lynn the water.
"So, what's so amazing?" Dexter wondered.
Lynn took a sip from his water and then sighed before showing a sweet smile, more like a grin. "Well, I went to Louis today to ask how I should proceed with you, and guess what answer I got."
Dexter raised his eyebrow, waiting for an answer. "What?"
"He got bored of you and told me not to bring you anymore." he smiled.
Dexter stopped and looked at Lynn in silence. "You're joking. That's impossible."
"Do I look like I'm joking to you?" he raised an eyebrow.
"But... How?" Dexter wondered as he frowned.
"It matters? Be happy that you're free, Dexy. You can do whatever you want now." he said happily.
Yes, Dexter was very happy that he was free now, but Lynn's words were passing through his mind, which got him a bit sad. Lynn noticed the expression on Dexter's face and his smile faded.
"What's wrong?" he looked at Dexter and placed his hand on his.
Dexter sighed heavily. "You said some days ago that when Louis will leave me alone... you will too. I don't want that. I don't want you to leave." he looked at the ground with the saddest look on his face.
Lynn sighed and looked away, then back at Dexter. "Dexy, I know what I said, but I can talk shit sometimes. You don't need to take everything I say seriously."
"But you're always serious. How can I not?"
Lynn sighed again. "Dexter, we are together, aren't we?"
Dexter nodded and Lynn continued "Why will I want to be together with you and then leave you? That's called break-up, and I'm not doing this." he said with a smile.
"So you won't leave?" he asked, hope rising in his voice.
"No, I won't. I know I will only bring you trouble, but I'll protect you with my life. Do you believe me?"
Dexter looked at Lynn and nodded, placing all his trust in him and his words. "Do you promise?"
"I promise." he sighed.
Lynn then sighed. "I want to kiss you."
"You can't now." Dexter chuckled. "I want that too, but another time." he smiled. "I'm sorry, but I need to get back to work. Can we talk when I finish?"
"Sure, sure, do your job. I'll take my leave now anyways." he got up, patted Dexter on his head, and then kissed his forehead. "See you when you're out." he winked and left.
Dexter was left speechless by the kiss, but soon a smile spread on his face. He went back to work with a big smile on his face. Connor looked at Dexter with a smile.
"How are you so happy? Your mood was always ruined when this guy came and now you're radiating happiness. What happened?" he grinned while crossing his arms. "Is there something between you two?"
Dexter rolled his eyes. "Don't be ridiculous. Nothing is happening."
"Dexter, I let you lie to me, but I'm tired of this. I saw how your face brightened when you saw him. You were so happy." Connor stopped a bit. "Is he your boyfriend?" he smirked as he gently elbowed Dexter.
Dexter looked at Connor and sighed. "And what if he is? Do you have a problem with that?"
"Of course not. Dexter, you're my friend. Plus, that means you're so hot that even guys are attracted to you, which is good, right?" he smiled.
Dexter showed him a smug smile. "Very funny, Connor. Just get back to work."
"But no jokes now, I need to know that guy better and tell him that if he makes you sad, he will regret meeting you. I will cut his head off." he smirked.
"I'm going to tell him that. Now, let's work. Clients are coming and we are chatting, doing nothing."
The two got back to work and Dexter was imagining how it will be with Lynn after his shift. He found spending his time with his enjoyable and he loved talking to him.
