Chapter 9 She Was Unusually Pale

Selena was thoroughly exhausted from her blood loss and after performing two consecutive operations.

She slapped Eva not because she snatched her boyfriend away, but because of her irresponsible behaviour just now. Because of her immature actions, a life was almost lost.

Yet, Hamilton did not ask why and instead chose to defend Eva unconditionally.

They had been in a relationship for three years, and they used to make the most beautiful vows to each other...

Now, the harsh reality had shattered that illusion. Those vows were no more.

"Hamilton Lance, I did slap her!" Selena narrowed her eyes and forced a smile, "However, why don't you ask her what she did? From now on, you'd better take good care of your intern. Do not let her enter the operation theater ever again!"

With that, Selena turned around and left, tears welling up in her eyes.

All he cared about was defending Eva after she got slapped in the face.

But what about her?

Was she just nothing but a colleague?

For the past 3 years dating him, she trusted him wholeheartedly, believing they someday they would marry and live a happy life.

Yet, the harsh truth was that it was never her, but Eva instead.

Was she strong? No!

How could she not feel sad after being betrayed?

She was just pretending to be strong in front of others to salvage the little bit of pride she had left.

However, that didn't mean she didn't feel pain. Now, her heart was aching as though someone had forcefully ripped it in half.

Selena's vision was blurred by her tears, everything in front of her going hazy. She didn't even care looking at where she was heading and had her head hung low. She did not want anyone to see her sadness and embarrassment.

At the corner, she ran into a man.

She hit her face and fell backwards uncontrollably.

Just as Selena thought that she was going to embarrass herself further by falling on her buttocks, someone grabbed her by the waist and prevented her fall. He helped her regain her center of gravity, but she ended up leaning into his arms.

His warm breath was right next to her ear, tickling her senses.

Selena said mindlessly, "Thank you..."

She looked up and their gaze unexpectedly met.

Her almond eyes stared at him innocently and awkwardly...

A pair of deep and meaningful eyes stared back at her...

"It's you..." Jefferson did not expect to meet this Bunny at the Advancist Hospital.

"I..." Selena blinked away her tears and looked at Jefferson in shock, "You, you..."

Jefferson did not move away from Selena's waist. Instead, he held her in his arms overbearingly. He grabbed her chin, forcing her to raise her little face so he could see her expression clearly. His gaze was cold and sharp, like a predator locking in on its prey.

The two of them were so close that they could hear each other's breathing.

The Bunny's eyes were red-rimmed, as if she had just cried. She had bit herself too hard just now and her lips were mottled with bloodstains.

Her skin was very fair, but her face was as pale as a sheet.

As soon as he lowered his gaze, he could easily see a trail of blood on her left arm.
