Hollywood What If Chapter 559
She glanced at Kazir, his face illuminated by the soft glow of the beach lights. Would he be happy if she told him the news? Would he be shocked? Or perhaps overwhelmed?
Taking a deep breath, she whispered, "Kazir… there's something I need to tell you—"
"Thank you."
Before Scarlett could say her words, Kazir said his thanks.
"Scarlett, thank you for being here with me. Thank you for loving me. There was a time in my life when I thought I would live my life all alone."
Kazir slightly smiled and continued. His hand cherished her hand as he spoke.
"At that time, I thought it was alright. I've lived so many years in loneliness that I felt normal about it. Thank you. I'm starting to see that there is meaning to my life. You helped me see it."
Listening to Kazir's sincere appreciation, Scarlett almost sobbed, but she held back her tears.
Indeed, Kazir went through a lot.
Scarlett promised that she would do her best to make him happy, to never let him feel lonely, and to never let him regret living.
She smiled and weakly sniffed. She pulled out the pictures in her pocket.
"Kazir, there is something I want to tell you."
Kazir noticed the slight tremble in her hands as she handed him the pictures. His brows furrowed in curiosity. But as he looked down at the ultrasound images, he found himself almost stopping from breathing.
For a moment, he didn't move. His mind processed what he was seeing. Then he looked back at Scarlett, his eyes wide with shock.
"Is this…?"
Scarlett nodded, her eyes glowing with emotion.
"Yes. Kazir, I'm pregnant."
A rush of emotions flooded Kazir's heart. Disbelief, joy, and fear. But above all, an overwhelming sense of love.
Scarlett gave him the pictures and Kazir carefully held them. He looked at the ultrasound… He couldn't see nor decipher where the baby was based on the pictures. All he could see were black and white with spots here and there. Still, strong emotions were stirring in his heart.
He was speechless as he looked at Scarlett.
Scarlett wiped the tears as she couldn't control her emotions anymore. She was affected by Kazir's sentimental speech earlier, so her emotions were erratic.
"I'm 6 weeks pregnant," she said as she touched her belly.
Kazir exhaled, his breath shaking. His fingers tightened on the ultrasound images as if holding himself to reality. Six weeks… A life was already growing inside Scarlett.
Their child.
He glanced back at her, his throat dry.
"I… I don't know what to say."
Scarlett let out a soft laugh, wiping the tears at the corner of her eye. Kazir was usually a calm and collected person, so it was rare for Scarlett to see him getting agitated. She enjoyed watching his reaction tonight.
"Then don't say anything. Just tell me what you're feeling."
Kazir took a deep breath. His heart pounded, his mind raced. He was shocked.
But when he looked at Scarlett, a warmth spread through his chest. Slowly, he reached out and placed a gentle hand over her stomach.
"I'm happy," he whispered.
"Hm, I'm also happy. The doctor said that the parents should express their happiness because the babies can sense it."
Studies showed that a baby in the womb could sense their parents' emotions.
"Yes, I'm really happy… Wait a minute, did you say babies?"
"Hm, we are having twins. The ultrasound confirmed it. Although we still don't know if it's fraternal or identical. We need to wait for another month to know that."
"Wow…" Kazir was too stunned to speak.
'A twin? I'm going to be a dad of two kids? Am I in a romance novel or something, perhaps fanfiction? Maybe a What If?'
It was understandable why Kazir was surprised.
Kazir combed his hair, letting out a chuckle.
"Twins… I don't even know how to process this."
In the first place, Kazir never experienced being a dad. He was excited but also afraid.
Scarlett giggled seeing his reaction. She intertwined her fingers with his.
"Well, you have about seven months to figure it out."
He nodded his head. He was still in utter shock, but he smiled.
"I was just starting to think that being a father of one baby would be tough, and now you're telling me I'm going to have two? This feels surreal."
Scarlett squeezed his hand.
"You're going to be a great dad, Kazir. I believe in you."
His heart stirred at her words. He had his fears, but seeing the trust in her eyes, he replied,
"I'll do my best. I'll make sure to take care of our kids. I'm going to be the best dad in the world."
The two giggled and kissed.
Scarlett was so happy, feeling the warmth of Kazir's love and sincerity. When they pulled apart, she rested her forehead against his chest.
In this close distance, Scarlett heard Kazir's heartbeat. His heart was beating so fast. Scarlett didn't know if she would cry or laugh. Clearly, Kazir was strongly affected by this surprisingly good news.
"We'll figure this out together. I'm also clueless on how to be a mother, but I'll do my best," she whispered.
"Yeah. I guess I should start reading parenting books, huh? I'll probably ask my brother about his experience." Kazir chuckled.
Scarlett laughed.
"That would be a good start."
Under the starlit sky, with the waves gently crashing in the background, they embraced their future as a family.
"Scarlett, thank you. I love you," Kazir muttered as the couple gently swayed like they were slow dancing.
"Hm, I love you too," the woman replied.
+++++
[Yeah, I guess I have to stop Kazir's suffering… For now. Nah, I'm just joking. Also, I guess it's quite obvious that Scarlett is pregnant based on the last chapter. Anyway, thank you guys for all of your support. I admit that I'm not active lately, I'm just having a hard time advancing the plot. I don't know if it's a mental block or a writer's block, perhaps it's just me suffering from procrastination. I can see the end of this novel since most of Kazir's trauma is now gone. Still, I want to say thank you. I hope I can write another chapter tomorrow…]
