Chapter 12 Part II

Knock, knock.

A knock sounded on the door of the room at almost nine o’clock at night. It was the usual time that Pim would finish her personal business and prepare to sleep in the room.

Normally, Madam Warakun would have Pim sleep in the same room as her to keep her company and to help to take care of both children during the night. During the daytime, the three of them took turns taking care of the children. However, Sakunthara didn’t want Madam Warakun to help at night because she was already elderly, and she wanted her to rest.

“Come right in, Pim,” the young woman yelled out to the person outside of the room. Although she was in the middle of breastfeeding her baby, she normally didn’t feel too much shyness or awkwardness if the other person with her was also female.
