Chapter 17 Part III

“You’ve come back alone, Vivi?” Sakunthara asked the young woman when she saw that Korawee had come back to the house in the evening at an earlier time than usual by herself. When going to work normally, there would be a driver who would bring the young man home before sending Korawee to her house, unless there was a party to be attended. The young man would drive himself occasionally. Upon returning, if it was not too late, Korawee would often drop in to see the children and would always say hello to her first.

“Everyone is still at the office. I come back to pack some necessary items, so I drop in to take the director’s things as well. Could I ask you to pack them up?”

“You’re all not going home? I’ve seen Mr. Pong working busily for a week now.” After she had had to come to live here with him, he had become the only person that she was best acquainted and most familiar with, even though she tried to maintain the same level of distance as before.
