The future of Cal was in the hands of Nick so he could not afford to take his time and avoid being contacted.
The more time that Cal wasted, the worse Nick would feel toward him since Nick wanted everything to be resolved quickly and efficiently.
With each day that passed, Nick became more irritated and impatient.
Seeds of doubt began to grow in his mind.
He had the evidence in his hands to reassure him that he was in control but the continued lack of contact only allowed that seed of doubt to grow.
Nick did not know why Cal would disappear like that and not contact him.
It was practically suicidal for Cal to keep up such a thing if he wanted to be able to survive.
Nothing seemed to make any sense.
No reason seemed to point out why Cal had not been in contact yet.
Nick even questioned whether there was a problem that he missed somewhere but he found nothing.
