Burning night---2

"Please, Xing'er, stay and let's talk," Yan Feng implored, his voice carrying a blend of urgency and longing. Mei Xing gracefully made her way towards his lavish bed, each step accompanied by a flutter of anticipation. As she settled herself onto the luxurious sheets, her eyes remained locked with Yan Feng's piercing gaze.

Yan Feng rose from his seat, the heavy sight of leather-bound books and the weight of his responsibilities hanging in the air. Determined to create a space for their intimate conversation, he meticulously cleared the cluttered chair, ridding it of heaps of important documents and volumes of knowledge. With deliberate movements, he positioned the chair in close proximity to Mei Xing, closing the physical distance between them.

"You look remarkably beautiful tonight, Xing'er, tell me, what the secret," Yan Feng asked, his voice coated in genuine admiration. The soft waft of his warm breath caressed her enticingly smooth skin, sending a shiver down her spine. His eyes, brimming with love and fascination, refused to look away, as if seeking solace in the mere sight of her stunning countenance.

"Secret, Yan Feng stop it! Yan Feng," Mei Xing retorted, her tone playful yet resistant. She couldn't help but let her eyes wander ever so slightly towards the door, aware of the seductive pull Yan Feng's words held over her. In her mind, she had associated such syrupy expressions solely with Yan Xun, her second husband, but now, confronted by Yan Feng's enigmatic charm, she realized the depth of his hidden sweetness.

"I can't stop, wife, because it's the undeniable truth," Yan Feng declared, his confidence unshakable and his intentions crystal clear. Mei Xing wracked her brain for a playful retort, desperately searching for a way to quell the seriousness of the moment. Finally, she discovered the perfect phrase.

"Feng Feng," Mei Xing began, the nickname rolling off her tongue with a combination of familiarity and teasing affection. Yan Feng's brows furrowed slightly, his concern evident in his expressive gaze.

"What is it, Xing'er?" he inquired, leaning forward, eager to understand her thoughts. Mei Xing took a moment to gather her words, letting the playful gleam in her eyes match the intensity of the moment.

"I will be more than happy to sign the contract..." Mei Xing's sentence trailed off, her voice laced with a touch of hesitation which made Yan Feng not to hear her clearly. Confusion flickered across Yan Feng's face, causing Mei Xing to momentarily second-guess her own words. She could almost feel herself suffocating under the weight of the puzzle etched onto Yan Feng's features.

"Which contract?" he finally asked, a tinge of perplexity coloring his voice. Mei Xing blinked rapidly, regret washing over her like a crashing wave. In her eagerness and naivety, she had mistakenly assumed that extending the marriage contract would be the answer. However, she now realized that the choice to marry them lay solely in her hands, and the true decision she faced was whether to accept or reject the contract binding her to her three obsessive magnate husbands.

"You said what, Xing Xing?" Yan Feng's voice pierced through the pervasive silence, his words resonating with a chilling, authoritative undertone fit for a deity. Mei Xing swallowed, her voice faltering slightly as she mustered the courage to respond. "I mean... I've been offered a part-time acting opportunity at Black Eagles," she revealed, her voice steady but tinged with uncertainty.

Yan Feng's expression hardened, his brow furrowing in displeasure as he tried to make sense of her words. "How does Black Eagles relate to the contract you are talking about or do you mean our marriage contract?" he inquired, his words fraught with seriousness, almost as if he could perceive the fear coursing through Mei Xing's veins. Mei Xing took a deep breath, her voice growing calmer as she locked eyes with Yan Feng, searching for a sign of understanding. "No i mean, I just recently signed a form to pursue my dream of becoming an actress, and I have been chosen as one of the ten approved candidates," she explained, hoping to elicit even a flicker of happiness from his stoic demeanor.

A shadow of melancholy washed over Yan Feng's face, his emotions veiling his features in sadness. Mei Xing shivered involuntarily, her spine tingling with the uncertainty of his reaction. Was he angry? Her mind raced, desperately trying to decipher his impassive façade. Yan Feng's silver hair cascaded elegantly, lending him an otherworldly appearance, as if he were a king from the pages of a fantastical novel.

"Mei Xing, can't you simply abandon this dream of being an actress? I am more than willing to compensate you tenfold the amount they would pay you at Black Eagles," Yan Feng proposed, his voice laden with a sincerity that demanded her consideration. Mei Xing felt her temper simmering, her frayed patience threatening to ignite into a raging storm. She took a moment to gather her thoughts and quell her simmering frustration.

"I know you're wealthy," she began, her voice teetering on the edge of exasperation. Mei Xing paused, her words hanging in the air for a fleeting moment before she continued, her voice gaining momentum. "But just because you're a billionaire doesn't mean that I derive pleasure from spending your money. Listen, Feng Feng, you can keep your money. I have no interest in being beholden to it. Believe it or not, I am going to Black Eagles tomorrow!" Mei Xing's temper soared beyond the confines of reason, as an irrepressible urge to lash out and make him reconsider his words coursed through her veins.

Yan Feng, however, appeared unperturbed by Mei Xing's outburst. He gazed at her, his calm demeanor unruffled, almost as if he anticipated her fury. "You know what, Xing'er?" he queried, his voice holding a sense of detachment that Mei Xing found disconcerting. "I believe that conquering the beginning of success at Black Eagles will perhaps soothe your restless spirit," he stated, his words tinged with a preternatural ease that bordered on enigmatic.
