We Got A Map (3)

Shawn POV

"Are you 2 having fun?"

"No, I'm grounded." Perseus replied grumpily, "And I got no chance to take off my blindfold without being seen to rest my eyes, no privacy if we're sharing the same home."

"Then just take it off, we don't care that much about your stinking eyes!" Professor Everett said as he, Julie, and Monty are preparing to leave for the trading port the couple found.

They plan on going there and going closer to somewhere with proper signals and leaving a message back to the mainland, I did volunteer, but I'm too weak to be doing anything, you're only as strong as your weakest link after all, so I'd be a burden, and they respectfully turn me down.

Julie's job is to run back in case the other 2 died, that's why they're bringing her there, even though Perseus is the quickest of our group.

"Your daughter will, cuz she'll fall for me even more if I reveal it to her." he retorted.

"I mean fair, his eyes are kinda pretty."

The group then left with barely any more arguments to go to the spot while I now hang our map in the cave. I'm currently studying it in order to find any other easier possible escape routes.

I'm practically the most useless one in the group, and I don't like that, I need to be of some use, we need group work if we want to get out of here, so minor scouting or any other job, I need to volunteer if I have the chance to go out.

After a while, that fairy named Midori came with a group of other fairies to gift us some fruits and edible plants, they say that they'll do it every week since Perseus is here, one of them then noticed the map and asked to draw it out for their own usage as well.

They said that they'd searched nearby but they'd never found a map of the island before, so they have to map it out manually which will take a really long time, Most of them then returned back to their village apart from the cartographers and Midori who made a place for herself sitting on Perseus' shoulder.

To be fair, he offered that since he didn't want her to exhaust herself by continuously flying, he is now sorting out the tools I got from the shack I visited with Captain Ida, mostly because he's bored and have nothing to do.

"Ms. Midori, may I inquire you about anything you know about...my people?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I wouldn't know much more than what the elder has already told you." she replied, "But you shouldn't worry, with the blessed one by your side, his presence is sure to overwhelm yours and will help hide you unless we are really close, no one can tell that you're a changeling.

"And as for your so-called original self, even if they feel threatened by you, you'll feel their malice if they were to have them directed at you, you'll then have enough time to think of a plan to save yourself."

"Is there any more that you know?"

"No." she shook her head, "Even if I did, it would be the more secretive ones, and only elders are allowed to say anything."

"I understand, thank you."

"Don't worry." Perseus reassured, "To me, you're the original, and if the other one wants to kill you, I'll protect you and would even help you bury the body to keep ya out of trouble."

Perseus then wanted to go visit the pond, and Captain Ida allowed him to leave for 20 minutes. Perseus then gave me this look of wanting me to come along, which I asked to go along to keep an eye on him since he will only listen to me.

We got to the pond where Perseus then sat down and took this huge calming breath, I sat next to him and he then began to talk.

"When the time comes for us to leave this island..." he trailed off.

Midori's eyes widen a mixture of confusion and worry filling her delicate features. Her luminous wings then fluttered with a growing sense of unease.

Perseus continues, his voice resonating with sad sincerity.

"Even if a few of us don't plan on revealing your existence, a few of the others may think differently," he warned, "They may report to other people how we were saved, and it won't be long till there are humans exploit the existence of magical beings such as yourselves. They would come here and unveil the secret fairy village to the world.

"Since we'll be here for a couple more weeks at least, tell your elders to consider moving your village to a new, hidden location." he suggested.

No wonder he wanted to be away from everyone else, but why am I here?

"But it's been there for centuries, even though we always have backup plans to move, it will still..." she mumbled sadly, "It's been our home for so long."

"We will do everything in our power to help find a suitable refuge for fairy village." he guaranteed, "My brother can do minor scouting jobs to help find new possible locations, and he can ask the locals for any other unexplored spots where no humans would go."

I see, I can do that, I can help the fairies find a new home. The navy officers and Captain Ida, especially the former, have reasons to report back the truth, especially the existence of such beings, and there will no doubt be a search party sent to find them and exploit their good nature.

"We'll promise to assist you in every way possible during this transition." I chimed in, "I'm big and can help move several of your homes in one go once we find a good location."

"I see." she then nodded, "I will tell the elders, but I will apologize in advance if we decide to not follow your advice, we have lived here for too long, and I'm sure that a lot of people trust in our barrier that has kept humans away for so long.

"And with Angels flying around the island, they will not really trust in humans settling down on this island again, at least, not for another few decades."
