Cythistia's Troubles

Standing in front of me, blocking me from going home, was a porcupine woman dressed in garb robes that depicted her noble birth. The crest on her chest indicated that she wasn't one of the twelve, but a lesser noble. Her hair was short but she had quill's running down from the back of her head to the bottom of her backside.

I was annoyed by her actions and asked in an unsavoury manner, "Can I help you?"

"Yes, you can help by becoming my wife!" She exclaimed.

I was shocked, and then I started laughing. Hard.

"What's so funny!? Do you have any idea what a privilege this is?!"

"Ahaha, you think, pfft, you think that you can, pfffahahaha!!"

"Hey! Stop laughing! Do you even know who you're talking to!?"

"Not- Not someone worthy of me, that's who. Ahaha." I managed to say through my dying laughter.

Her face contorted in anger as her arms trembled with rage.

As my laughter faded, I noticed the crowd that had gathered around us, both confused and intrigued by what was happening.

The prick in front of me noticed this as well, and started to smirk.

"What's with that ugly smile on your face? You were already unappealing and now you go and make it harder to look at you?" I insulted her, angering her even more.

"Hmph! You'll regret angering me! Mark my words!"

My demeanour turned cold as I looked at her with a diminishing gaze and said, "You won't ever be able to touch me."

She reeled back slightly, not expecting me to act like I did.

"Oh really? Well how about THIS!" She yelled.

And before I could react, she'd punched me in the face, knocking me over to the side and towards the crowd. I didn't fall into the crowd itself, but into one of the stands that was set up, breaking it apart.

I was fine for the most part, just a few scratches and bruises here and there. Apart from that I was fine physically. Mentally though, that was completely different, I was absolutely stunned that she would do such a thing. Does she not recognise me? Or at least my family crest?

I looked down to check that I was wearing and I indeed was, the question then was, why did she not look at it? Or did she not recognise it? Or is she just a delinquent bitch?

I got back up with relative ease, but there was a slight wavering as I did so.

"Ah!" I yelped as one of the bruises reached my deep in my leg and using it hurt.

"Hmph! That's what you get for messing with my Pinewood family!"

"Pinewood?"

"Yes, don't you know what that is? We do a lot of the forest keeping outside the city."

"Oh yes so much more important than my family, yes, we totally don't do that and more and have an established foundation in our society's history. No not at all like your family which is barely as old as my father." I spewed sarcastically. I was sick of her attitude.

"Hah?! You make it sound like you're a member of the Velphine's, Which I know you aren't, that's why I've reported you to the authorities for that fake badge."

...

'Are you serious? Is she serious?' I just stared at her with a dead expression on my face, as did everyone else.

"Are you serious?" I asked.

"Of course I'm serious! Why do you think I reported you? You faker!"

"I- You know what? I'm not going to bother arguing with you, you won't believe anything I say." I sighed, knowing that the authorities would deal with this dumbass when they got here.

"Hmph! Playing dumb won't get you anywhere!" She shouted stupidly.

I sighed again and just decided to ignore her for now and help the owner of the stall I fell onto.

A few minutes later, I'd finished helping the man who ran the stall I crashed into and by the time I was done, the authorities had arrived.

It was a pair of male wolf-kin dressed in light armour.

"We got a report of a fake crest… What happened here?" The guard inquired as he saw the mess.

Before I could even say anything, the Pinewood bitch starts spewing out all sorts of bullshit about me trying to scam people. I let her say everything she wanted before the guards came over to me to verify what she said.

I of course told them the truth and showed them my family crest. They were a little sceptical but went around and asked the stall owners that were still around what happened to get further verification.

When they were done interrogating the regular citizens, they came back to me and apologised to me for the inconvenience.

"Sorry for the trouble ma'am, but you know we're just doing our job."

"It's fine, just make sure to give an appropriate punishment to her so that she doesn't do something so stupid again."

They nodded and walked over to her. When she saw the guards walking over to her without having done anything to me, she looked annoyed, and when the guards started talking to her she threw a fit at them.

They tried to calm her down but she just got angrier. Soon the guards had to restrain her and she started screaming at the top of her lungs.

"I HATE YOU!!! I'LL MAKE SURE YOU SUFFER!!! YOU WON'T EVER GET A BREAK WHILE I'M HERE!!!" She screeched at me.

The guards then knocked her out cold to shut her up and proceeded to drag her away.

As for me, I went straight back home.

When I got back home, I was greeted by the guards guarding the gate. They told me that grandpa was waiting for me in the main hall.

I thanked them and quickly rushed over there to see what my surprise was. I opened the doors and ran up to my grandfather before stopping and waiting for him to tell me what my surprise was.

"You seem as excited as always." He said.

"Mhmm!"

"Hoho! Well, I'm sure that you're going to love this one."

"What is it? Tell me!"

"Patience, Cythistia, patience. Remember what I told you, you need to be more patient."

"R-Right." I said sheepishly.

Then I heard the doors to the hall open once more. I turned around to see grandma.

"Grandma!" I ran up to her and gave her a big hug.

"Haha, hello dear, I take it you're here for your surprise?" She asked with warmth in her voice.

"Mhmm!"

"Well, it's not much of a surprise than it is something that we have to inform you of. Would you like to know what it is?"

"Mm!"

"Fufu~ Well, when you finish your academic studies in a couple of years, that time that you would normally spend learning, will be spent training with me."

My eyes widened as my jaw dropped completely in disbelief. I didn't think I'd be able to train with grandma so soon.

"Ahaha! Ahh the look on your face right now!" Grandpa bursted out laughing.

I didn't respond because I was still shocked by what grandma told me.

When I finally came out of my stupor though, I was extremely excited, and I couldn't wait to begin. So much so that I begged them right then and there.

"No! You must finish your academic studies first, THEN you can become a warrior. You will however, still have to help with the restoration of Efyos." Grandpa said sternly.

"Aww... Okay..."

I really wanted to train with grandma now, but I had to listen to them otherwise I would probably be admonished for my actions, and my training with grandma would be pushed back to a later time.

The next couple of years went by, and during those years, that bitch that tried to frame me of false identity kept on popping up in my life and trying to ruin it for no good reason.

Halfway through my last year of school, I found that I had a crush on one of the bird-kin boys. I went up to him one day and confessed my feelings for him and he seemed a little surprised by my sudden confession, and said that while he didn't quite reciprocate such feelings, he was open to growing them.

We were a couple for about a week before he came up to me one day and said that he'd found someone else. That someone being the porcupine bitch, I didn't even know she attended this school. She proceeded to rub it in my face and I just ran away in anger and pain.

When I finished my school studies half a year later, at graduation, she found a way to ruin that also. My first love, and now my graduation. She ruined it by 'accidentally' spilt beer all over my graduation uniform.

And it didn't stop there, even after I finished school, she always looked for trouble with me. When I was healing the city, when I tried to get into another relationship twice. She always ruined whatever she could whenever she could, and I've never found out why.
