Fiancée?
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone present turned their gaze towards him.
Jessica was also shocked, not yet clear about what was going on. The next second, she saw David suddenly kneel down in front of her, his expression pious as he took out a ring from his pocket.
"Jessica, marry me," he said each word without hesitation, as if he had practiced it countless times before.
Jessica couldn't help but cover her mouth, while William's pupils slightly dilated, his veins popping as he watched this scene.
David, was he now proposing to Jessica? And in front of William?
"I know you may think this is sudden, but it's not for me. When we met at the hospital earlier, you asked me why I was so good to you even though it was our first time meeting," David said, chuckling."But only I know that our encounter at "Dawn" wasn't our first meeting. My first time seeing you was ten years ago.
"Ten years ago, the Taylor family held a birthday banquet for you, and my parents brought me along. I was wandering around in the backyard when I saw you bossing around the servants and beating up a middle-aged man who was stuffed in a sack. I overheard the servant saying that you were punishing him for molesting a little girl at the banquet.
"For a whole decade, I still remember your confident and spirited manner of beating someone up, your calm and collected demeanor in ordering people to withdraw at the sound of someone coming, and your mischievous act of sticking out your tongue and giving that man a fierce kick before leaving. Meeting you in my youth left a lasting impression on me, and I can still recall the faint sparkle of your smile, which outshone the blooming flowers in the garden.
"I know you've been infatuated with someone for ten years, but do you know that I've also liked you for the same amount of time? Jessica, don't wander alone anymore. Let me take care of you and give you a home."
Jessica couldn't believe it. She never thought there was such a story between her and David.
Ten years.
She had also once loved someone, so she surely knew how sincere a number ten years could be.
"I'm not the same Jessica Taylor as before, I've served five years --"
"I don't care," David said, gently holding Jessica's hand and putting the ring on her ring finger. "I won't accept rejection for my first marriage proposal."
As tears streamed down Jessica's face, she looked up and coincidentally met the deep gaze of William. His eyes were dangerous, and they were filled with an emotion that she couldn't read. They even seemed to convey a sense of nervousness.
But soon, she looked away.
Having a home was such a beautiful dream. She had thought that she could never fulfill it in her lifetime, but now David was telling her that he would give her one.
This was the most beautiful confession of love she had ever heard.
"David, I'll marry you," Jessica replied.
One sentence, one decision.
In the end, Jessica was brought back by David.
As if to fulfill the promise of that day, David started to prepare for the wedding non-stop, even canceling all the company meetings for it.
Jessica said more than once, "I'm not in a hurry."
She didn't want him to be too tired. Besides, even if they didn't have a wedding ceremony and just invited both sides of their families to a simple meal, she would have no complaints.
Since David proposed to her, she could hardly sleep at night. She was afraid that she would wake up and find out it was just a dream.
She really wanted a home.
And when she was with David, leaning in his arms, she felt a sense of calmness she had never experienced before.
Holding her in his arms, David chuckled and said, "But I am in a hurry."
He was eager to marry her into the Thompson family and give her a home.
