Chapter 15: The dangerous date

David made sure the cab let him off a few blocks away from the coffee bar where Jessica had asked to meet him. He wanted a bit of time to walk and get his head together.

He needed to have his story settled. Had to know what he was going to say. Questions were coming, and he needed to have answers for her.

Agent Scott. How old was she? Four years of college, possibly five. Assume five, plus three years of law school, another year training, plus a second year gaining experience. That put her at twenty-seven, possibly twenty eight. That meant she was old enough that she’d be looking for long term relationships. If she wanted a relationship at all.

He had been putting on all of his charms to get to know her better. Wanted to keep on top of things, make sure she didn’t have some sort of ulterior motives, make sure the feds weren’t watching the painting or watching for him. All those charms inevitably would make her start thinking relationship.
