Chapter 50: The trap

There was silence for a bit while David watched the road. There were no other cars. If he turned off his lights and pulled over quickly, they might go right past him. Or they might pull up next to him and open fire. Bad idea. Too risky.

Maybe a cop would be a good idea. He could at least provide something else for the Russians to worry about. A police car joining the chase would make them worry as well, maybe even make them back off. If not, it could become a caravan, more squad cars joining in, even a helicopter.

But that would be something else for David to worry about too. If the cops showed up, he’d have to deal with them too. Not what he needed.

Who was in the other car? Who pulls into a motel at three in the morning? No one. So who was in the other car?
