Chapter 57: Did you mean it?

When the movie was over, they went for a walk. Montana had a car, but it was still early fall. Good temperature for walking. So he’d asked if they could walk, which was exactly what Autumn wanted. She loved the season, and not just because of her name. The bitter chill winds that came in only on occasion, the smell of turning leaves, the world slowly going to sleep. It was a very comfortable time.

They walked.

“So,” Montana said. “Did you like the movie?”

It was as if he didn’t want to give his own opinion until after he heard hers. “Yeah,” she said. “It was interesting.” He nodded his agreement. No surprise there. “Thanks for asking me out. For the movie.”

He smiled. “Any time, Autumn. In fact, hopefully another time.”

“I’d like that,” she said. “But this time isn’t over yet, so let’s not rush, okay?”

He blushed. “Right. Sorry. It’s kind of been a while since I’ve done this.”

That made her smile. “That’s okay. It’s been a while since I’ve done it too.”
