Chapter 23

Caroline

“A date?” I question him as I look up from my computer screen. Nash is standing in front of my desk, asking me out on a freaking date. “Isn’t that what we’ve been doing already?”

“No.” He plays with the edge of his shirt, an adorably annoying habit I haven't recognized yet. “We’ve been hanging out at each other’s houses and doing things away from the prying eyes of others. I’d like to take you out tonight.”

There’s a warmth seeping from the pit of my stomach to the top of my head. Knowing that he wants to be seen with me moves our relationship along into uncharted waters, in my opinion. Even further than I realized we could. “Are you sure?”

This is a big decision for him, and I think we both know how big. As soon as he takes me out in public, he'll be telling the entire town he's moving on.

“I’ve thought about it.” He sits down in the seat beside my desk. “Thought about it a lot, and I think it’s time.”
