A Step Toward Higher Technology
"What did you just say?!" Arthur and Leo asked with a loud voice to Jeanne.
Jeanne smile while seeing how shocked they were.
"I said that the new technology I created a particle capacitor with a length of only 10 meters. This will aid us for stocking more energy in a smaller space. Our weapon will much stronger than now. With what I saw, I think our army will have an equivalent force with battleships that we have encountered from the Faran." Jeanne said.
"This… huh, it seems that you really are our genius friend huh" said Leo with a smile
"Yeah, with that, we will be able to gain time before s stronger army from the Faran come." Arthur was taken aback.
"Yeah, I hope so"
With that they finished their meal before going to bed, since the day after Jeanne will have to meet again with the General from the military and the Director from the researcher lab.
In the morning, she arrives in front of the Director's office.
'I'm really tired, I really have no sense of direction, I was to supposed at the General's office not the Director's' thought Jeanne while shaking her head.
She saw a petite woman with a Mexican appearance approaching with a badge of a Lieutenant General on her uniform, Jeanne quickly moves in her direction.
"Excuse me, I'm Major Jeanne Leroy, I'm supposed to meet with the General but I think I'm lost, can you help me, Lieutenant General?" she said with a blush on her face.
"So, you were Jeanne huh. It seems it's true when I heard people talk about your sense of direction, well I was also called there, follow me." she replied with a frown on her face.
"Oh, and my name is Sofia Perez, be sure to remember it" she said without turning around while quickening the pace.
After arriving at the General's office, Sofia knocked before hearing the voice of the General and then entered.
Jeanne get in and saw nearly 20 people here. Among them, there was the General and the Director.
"Hello Jeanne, as you can see there is also our Director here, after seeing your innovation she talks me about it and we decided that this need to be implanted immediately. These people here are all the Lieutenant Generals and Senior Principal Associate Researchers from the 5th army, which mean the most important people are now here." said the General with a serious face.
"Right, you will explain to us in more details your finding and how you want to use these in spaceships so we can implement them." continued the Director.
"Yes!" answered Jeanne enthusiastically.
During 3 hours she did explained how she did come with her solution and how to use it in battleships to make them more dangerous against their enemies. Being from the military or scientific field, all the people in the room were amazed by her and her intelligence.
"Do you think, it's possible, with that, we can beat the worst army of the Faran at the very least." Asked the General to the Director.
"Yes, we can begin our tests on small battleships used for training recruits, but I think it will be a success. Jeanne can accompany me, she can learn to work better in our field and try a test herself to see how to use a battleship in real life and not in a virtual space" She replied.
"Okay, good for me."
In the following weeks, Jeanne and the higher rank scientists would work on a small battleship to integrate in it, the new technology.
After 5 weeks of hard work, the ship was now ready to be tested.
Jeanne was in the spaceship and was navigating through space to be comfortable, since this is the first she controls a real spaceship and not a virtual one.
With the other scientists and soldiers from the military they arrive near an asteroid with an area of 5km².
There was also Arthur and Leo, thanks of their status as a son of an important figure. The Director and the General looking at Jeanne with great expectation.
"Shoot when you want" said the Director.
Jeanne exhaled and started to work with her fingers on the virtual keyboard.
After having the asteroid visually on the radar, she taps on the screen.
Suddenly, the weapon was charging with a large amount of energy and shoot against the object. The result was that more than half of the asteroid was destroyed.
Everyone held their breaths and then cheered with taking each other in their arms. This a success.
"This…this has almost a destruction capacity up to our large weapons, with that, we can say that this is even better that what we expected. If we change our medium and large weapons on our battleships, they will bring destruction in a bigger scale than our current large weapons." said the Director.
Jeanne was surprised she did not think that her technology will be result in such a good way.
The Director walk to her with a big smile on her face
"Congratulation researcher Jeanne, I think you merit a little gift for your achievement." With that she handed to her a badge.
Accepting this, Jeanne was shocked, because the badge was silver with the design of an atom on it, it was a badge for a Principal Researcher.
"With your achievement, you deserve it."
"Thank you very much." Said Jeanne with a big smile on her face while replacing her badge on her uniform with the new one.
"Now that you are rank 5 scientist in the hierarchy, you are allowed to know more information, Senior Assistant Researcher Leonardo and Captain Arthur are allowed to hear it, since with their father I doubt you can't achieve rank 5 in the science or military field" said the General with a smile.
"But you are not allowed to talk about it to people lower than rank 5, understand you three?" saying with a low voice while looking at the trio.
"Yes!" they replied in unison.
"Good. You know that a reason that we have been able to live is because of the Zivar merchants. Since we were a new civilization, they let us develops for 100 years and sent a warning to other civilization before anyone can attack us. While registering in their virtual database, we had to give them a language to be able to communicate, since we have two main languages today. We decided to give them the English language while we will talk in French for secret information, with that, they can't comprehend us if they spy on us." said the General.
"In their virtual space, it's possible to trade with precious material with other civilization and have access to some information, we learn that civilizations are organized into different levels."
The ranking of civilizations from low to high:
Level 0: Control at least one planet
Level 1: Control at least 1 star system
Level 2: Control at least a minor arm of a galaxy
Level 3: Control at least major arm if a galaxy
Level 4: Control at least a galaxy
Earthling is a level 2 civilization with 5 star systems and the Faran civilization is also a level 2 civilization but they are controlling more than 300 star systems.
It's said that there are higher level of civilizations, but for now ,this is a mystery if they really exist or if it's just a myth.
It's supposed that the Zivar civilization is level 4 civilization who control the Milky way, which is why no one opposed them and why everyone follows their rules for fear of reprisal.
"Really?!" Jeanne, Arthur and Leo were shocked by this new piece of information.
Jeanne particularly, since she is a scientist she always wants to find a way to advance technologically, she didn't know at this moment, her dream was starting to change from her original thinking.
Since then five years pass, during this time, Leo became an Associate Researcher while Arthur didn't change his rank, since he could not achieve something without battles.
Jeanne continue to develops technologies and every time she is blocked in her researches, she finds answers in her peace, this happened more frequently in the 5 past years than at her school.
Recently, she did develop a serum while studying human's DNA who allowed humans to live for 300 years.
It will need one year for every human to receive a dose.
All the battleships from Earthling are now at the next generation equipped with Jeanne new technology.
The trio of friends were talking while walking toward the military base.
"It seems that the serum will help us by having former retirees to work once more. We will have more soldiers and scientists to help us now." said Leo
"You both work and had achievement and get promoted but without battles I will be stuck at the rank of a Captain for a very long time I think." sigh Arthur
"I didn't rank up in the military too you know" replied Jeanne.
Suddenly an alarm ringed and was heard in all the base. With that the voice of the General was heard.
"Everyone, come immediately to your team and board your battleships, we detected a Faran army at 500 million km from us!"
The trio paused, and then run toward their location.
"It seems that your wish come true bastard." said Jeanne.
"Shut up and follow me, don't you dare lost your way now." shouted Arthur with a red face.
