The police didn’t build a barricade to try to stop them, though Harley was worried they would. She knew that Marian would drive right through it, that she would smash a cop car out of the way if it tried to park across the road to block her. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to get to Walter.
It was nice to see how much Marian loved her friend. And Harley enjoyed feeling the certainty that, if she were the one who had been taken, Marian would be doing the same thing for her. Nothing would stop her from trying to save Harley, any more than anything could stop her from trying to save Walter.
Not a chasing squad car, not a hundred chasing squad cars, not even a police blockade.
Thankfully, there was no way for them to build the blockade, because there were too many options. Within a minute of the first cop disappearing in the rearview, they were off the highway and careening down back roads and side streets.
