Kirata's past part four

After the fateful battle that took Lege's life, the war between beasts and humans paused because of the destruction Kirata's rampage caused. Villages were destroyed by lightning strikes, while most beast homes were burned to the ground or washed away by the rain. With everything in shambles, the humans pulled back from attacking the beast. With these two years of nothing going on, Kirata has used all his free time for training.

Seto has been all over the Moro zone for the past two years doing his father's job after he lost the ability to do it on his own and continued to do it even after his eventual death from disease. These tasks he had to do were way tougher since the zone was in shambles thanks to Kirata.

It was the same day Seto and Kirata met, and Seto was preparing for war. Seto was in a shed at the back of his village, grabbing weapons. As he does, the same mysterious woman who killed Lege enters the shed.

"What do you want, Mato? Aren't you supposed to be preparing for the oncoming attack?"

"Yes, I am, but Seto, I must know."

"???"

"For the past two years, on this day in particular, you've had everyone get ready for an attack, but both times there wasn't an attack from the enemy.

"Oh, I see the confusion."

"Confusion?"

"The reason I've been preparing for battle on this day in particular is because I know my opponent."

"Yeah, you already told me this multiple times, but that doesn't explain your reasoning."

"Mato, you said two years ago that you killed a beast?"

"Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything?"

"I suggest you just trust me. Now hurry up and prepare before we're caught off guard!"

"Tch, fine, but I'm telling you, if nothing happens today, I will deem you unable to lead and take your place as this village's general."

Mato leaves the room in frustration.

"I understand why she thinks what I'm doing is ridiculous, especially when every time I do this, I cause panic throughout the village, but if anyone knows when he'll attack, it's me. Go ahead and come, Kirata, so we can end this friendship the right way. On the battlefield!"

As Seto prepares for his arrival, Kirata is located a handful of miles away from the village. In the past two years, Kirata has spent them training his uncontrolled power. At first, his father, Jack, was his training partner, but about a year ago, old age caught up with him. Jack died of a heart attack, but even with his father dead and gone, Kirata remained unphased. After realizing his father only cared for the power he could gain, Kirata lost his love for him and didn't care for his death.

Kirata has now completed his training and is fully ready to attack Seto and the army that is waiting for him at Seto's home village.

"Well, today is the day. I'm fully trained, and today is the same day me and Seto met. We started our friendship here, and this day will be the day I end it. Lege, I promise you, I will get revenge for you."

Kirata's mind starts to remember not only the day Lege died but, most importantly, his last words.

"Hahaha, you know, even now, when I'm about to die, I still hate you."

Kirata's face instantly turns to rage.

"I promise you, Lege, I will exterminate the human race in your name!"

Kirata surrounds himself with lighting and takes off into the sky.

About five minutes later, back in the village, Seto is sitting at his family's burned-down home, praying at his mother and father's graves.

"Mother, Father, I know you're up there looking down on me, so please help me get through another day without you."

As Seto finishes his prayer, the sky around the village becomes filled with black clouds. All of a sudden, it starts raining heavily without any sign of stopping.

"I see, so today is the day."

Seto gets up with a serious expression on his face.

"Seto!!"

After Seto stands up, two people from the village army run to him.

"Yes, I know he's coming. Now both of you get in formation with the others."

"Yes sir!!"

As the two of them run into formation, Seto looks to the sky and sees a small blue sparkle approaching extremely fast.

"I see you came to play no games today, Kirata; well, I'm not playing either."

The army Mato has formed for this very moment stands tall in the face of Kirata, who is approaching with extreme speed. Mato comes out of the house next to Seto.

"I guess I should have trusted you when you said he would come, but are you sure we can beat him, especially with all that power he has?"

"Yes, I'm sure we can win. We have a good army and powerful level-one OGI users all over the place. We should be able to overtake him with enough time."

As Seto and Mato discuss their odds against Kirata, lightning bolts start raining down from the sky. The lightning bolts tear apart the village instantly and cause the army's formation to fall. Seto looks toward the incoming blue dot in the sky.

"Wait, he hasn't even reached the village yet!"

Mato grabs Seto and throws him out of the way of an incoming lightning bolt.

"I told you, Seto, this beast is different! His power far exceeds any beast I've killed before! Fighting him isn't going to be easy!"

"Damn it, I know, but I didn't think he could actually replicate the power he used two years ago with just two years of training!"

The entire village starts running around in a panic. Before Seto even knew it, Kirata was on top of them.

"Hello, Seto It's been two years!"

"Kirata!"

As everything falls apart, Seto's mind starts racing.

"The battle just started, and our troops are already in shambles. Damn it, these lightning bolts are going to leave the village in ashes if this keeps up! I have no choice, then. I must kill Kirata before he destroys us completely!"

Seto activates level two and looks towards Mato.

"Mato, it's up to us! Hurry and set the traps while I handle Kirata!"

"OK, but are you sure you ca–"

"God damn it, Mato, just follow my orders!"

Mato sees the look in Seto's eyes and instantly runs to the middle of the village.

"Now it's time to end this!"

The rock under Seto lifts him into the sky.

"It's finally time for me to show you my earth manipulation."

Multiple pieces of earth rise from the ground and speed toward Kirata. Before they even reach him, lightning strikes come down from the sky and destroy each rock instantly.

"Sorry, Seto, that it had to be this way, but today it's going to be an eye for an eye!"

"Tch, I knew you were going to say something like that, and you know you're right; it can't end any other way!"

Kirata looks up and sees that a rock has formed above him. The rock slams into Kirata's head, sending him to the ground. When he makes contact with the ground, his arms and legs suddenly get put in chains, keeping him on the ground.

"What the hell is this?"

Seto comes back to the ground and lands next to Mato.

"Chains really?"

"Hey, didn't I tell you my traps are random? You're lucky we've got a trap that's at least decent."

"Whatever, let's just hurry up and kill him while he's down."

"OK, that sounds like a plan, but how are we going to cut through his sk–"

Before she could finish her sentence, Mato was struck by a lightning bolt. The lightning bolt killed her instantly and burned her skin to the point that her body turned pitch black.

"Mato!!!"

As her lifeless body smacks the ground, Kirata breaks the chains on his body.

"Seto, I did not come here to play around; I came here for one thing and one thing only, and that's to end the human race, starting with the village that took my brother's life!"

As Kirata's anger rises, more lightning strikes from the sky, but this time they aren't missing. The lightning strikes hit human after human, leaving them dead in the most gruesome way possible. As his village quickly dies out, Seto looks back to Kirata and begs for mercy.

"Wait, Kirata, don't you think this is enough? Don't you remember that we became friends because we put aside our differences? I know it's too late to make amends at this point, but I still believe peace can be found if we work hard enough! Please end this senseless bloodshed!"

"..."

Kirata remains silent after hearing Seto's offer and continues his rampage. Seto falls to his knees as everything he's ever known burns to ashes around him.

"I see you've already made your decision. Hehe, will there ever be peace in the Moro zone?"

A lightning strike comes down from the sky and shoots him through the heart, killing him without any anguish. Even in rage, Kirata still felt love for his friend and took mercy on him by killing him easily. After just a few minutes, Seto's entire village was burned to the ground, leaving no trace.

"Finally, now I guess I have to finish off the rest of those hum-"

Before Kirata finished his sentence, he looked around at the destruction he had caused. He looked at all the burned dead bodies and blood scattered around the village he destroyed. Kirata looked back at Seto's dead body with regret. Even though Kirata was angered by his brother's passing, he realized that the reason his brother died was because of the constant hatred between beasts and humans. He knew that no matter how different they looked from each other, at the end of the day, both of them had emotions and families, and most importantly, both of them could die at any given moment. Kirata looked at the destruction he caused and the number of lives he had taken and started crying tears of regret.

"This...This war has to end."
