Adventure of Astral Part 45: Executioner

"No shit. If you truly are the one that you are supposed to be, even at a faulty mental state, there is no losing." Ruby rolled to her back as she looked into the clear blue sky. "We will never defeat you, even that day we couldn't stand a chance."

"What day?" Astral pulled out Muramasa and lifted her chin up to look into her eyes as Diamond rolled over and looked at the two.

"I get your memory is that faulty. But how far gone is it?" Diamond spoke up as she slowly crawled over Topaz and Sapphire. Their energy flowing from their bodies into her for one last attack.

"All I have a memory of, is names. Names of those who have died. Those that have lived and those I have fought. Titan sticks out as I remember his name as one who brought pain, but for some unknown reason." Astral looked over as he put Muramasa back.

"So the battle tournament doesn't sound familiar?" Ruby asked as she slowly crawled closer to Astral. "You made a deal with the gods, followed through on it, then undermined them twice, while taking advantage of them. You even faced Diamond and I."

"Explain how it happened." Astral crouched lower to the ground as he looked at her. She sat upwards as a state of shock filled the two's faces.

"The battle must have left him scarred and repressed many of his memories." Diamond felt refreshed enough in order to combat and deal one last blow, but she would wait for the moment to strike.

"Don't mind her for the moment. She is talking about something you did later. The battle tournament was a gauntlet of fights, you faced two of the strongest people in the universe, defeating them and then facing us after those two. You beat us. After that we were alive once more and were able to ask a monitor what happened." Ruby paused for a moment as she caught her breath. "Titan was the last man standing at the end of the gauntlet as well as a child named Mu, they threw you between two suns as you survived and won."

Astral looked directly into the sun as it called out to him in a whisper. He shook his head and looked down. "What is this monitor and why does it feel that those names are too familiar." Astral's mind filled with the memory of facing off against Mu and Titan in the tournament followed by defeating Mu with the help of Jaimie in the Sacramentum's capital city. Ruby began to speak as Astral grabbed her jaw to stop her from speaking for the moment.

"You are remembering now. Good." Diamond opened her hand as she slowly began to charge a spell. "The battle I referred to that we eluded to several times earlier was one of a much larger scale as well as one that featured your men. Not just you fighting. The universe was told to attack you all at once to see how you could handle it. You fought several of us at one time." Astral looked over.

"You managed to kill us before Titan and you faced off. But even the monitors had no clue what happened. You won in an instant. Clearing out the solar system in a mere moment. They were helpless and had no explanation. We also didn't get to see the fracture."

"WHAT FRACTURE! AND WHO SENT YOU!" Astral yelled at Diamond as she sent a pure white plasma beam at him. It went off course as he summoned his scythe and sliced her hand off as it grazed his right cheek. "One last trick won't save you from answering my questions." Astral let go of Ruby's jaw as he held the scythe up. They both entered a state of feared shock. The battle flashed in his mind. Him wielding this exact scythe and Muramasa, with hands that extended from his body helping him. Including the white one. He came back to reality as he saw Titan with his foot stomping the ground.

"One last time ladies. Who sent you here, and who sent you there." Astral glared at them as neither of them answered right away. He waited for a few minutes as Ruby composed herself a bit.

"The monitors told us to attack you at that time. We have been bound to not tell you what these monitors are and who they work for, once your memories return you can recall them. They are also the ones who brought us to the battle tournament." Ruby kept rambling as Astral flicked his head back to her. "They are the ones who organize us after we die, because of the curse you casted on your troops. I have no clue what it is or how it works."

"Don't change the subject. Who sent you to this planet, and why were my kids here?" Astral held his scythe to Diamond's neck as Ruby put up her hand. Astral held his attack for a moment as he waited her response.

"The monitors sent us here. They wanted to track you down to finish you." Ruby stood up as she slowly started to bleed from her ears. "Your children were here when we were. A third party brought them. What I remember is they were severely hurt by Titan before they were saved." She fell to her knees and looked up at Astral. "Please let us move on, we will be back. This time stronger and smarter." with her request his scythe moved in one fluid motion across all of their necks. He then made the scythe vanish as he looked to the now destroyed throne room.

He slowly walked forward to the cliff face. Scaling it he looked at the throne room, sitting in the chair as he pushed the other three over. He let his armor fire to life as he looked across all the various menus popping up, reading all of them as he learned more about the past, by rereading everything and the entire past.
