A little girl played silently with a doll in a spacious room lit only by a fireplace. The room was richly furnished and there were several shelves filled with expensive looking books and two green couches facing the fire hinted that the place was meant as a reading room.
Rain poured outside violently hitting the glass panes of the window, encompassed from time to time by a distant thunder. It was just another lonely evening for a seven years old Winona, until two men entered the room.
"Grampa!" Winona's face lit up immediately.
"Dear Winnie! What are you doing here?" Walter smiled squinting his eyes and crouching to hold her granddaughter in his arms.
The man who followed him hung his wet coat, along with his fedora hat on the perch and sat on the couch.
"Father said it was time for homework, but I'm tired so I sneaked here to play. Will you tell on me?" The girl said pulling her 'puppy eyes' that would never fail to melt her grampa's heart.
