Chapter 7

As Killan arrived at Pack Hospital, a wave of shock coursed through his body. He raised his hand and delivered a sharp blow to the back of his head, hoping to dispel the fog that had settled there.

"Could you tell me what brought you here?" Killan, please! You won't see him again! What are you planning to do while you're here at the hospital? Isn't this the answer you've been seeking for? You, scumbag, you want him to die!' Alpha Killan muttered to himself, lost in thought.

Killan's actions had stirred up a commotion among his Pack members, who now gazed at him with a mixture of bewilderment, concern, and astonishment. Their eyes were wide, their faces etched with confusion, and their expressions betrayed a sense of unease.

The Alpha's legs refused to budge, despite the hospital being within arm's reach. He pondered over his choices for a moment, his mind racing with possibilities. After much contemplation, he made the decision to turn himself and his car around and depart from the Pack Hospital, the vehicle's engine roaring to life as he drove away .

Ackerly lay in repose within the confines of his room, positioned adjacent to a large, ornate window. As he laid his eyes upon the Alpha's departure, he found himself unable to contain his astonishment, his head shaking in utter disbelief.

Little did Ackerly know that he was in for a surprise when Alpha Killan made an unexpected appearance at the hospital during his recovery. He was keenly aware of the situation at hand, yet it appeared to have no effect on him whatsoever. As fate would have it, Ackerly may have caught a glimpse of him during the Alpha's visit to another individual.

As an Omega and Packless, he was well aware of the disdain that many held for him, particularly among the fairer sex. He had learned through bitter experience that patience was a virtue he could ill afford to overlook. Despite the overcrowded conditions at Pack Hospital, he was granted a room of his own to avoid the wrath of the female wolves.

Ackerly's heart raced as he contemplated the gravity of his situation. With his life hanging in the balance, he knew that every move he made could be his last. He resolved to be even more vigilant and cautious than before, knowing that the slightest misstep could lead to his demise. The duration of his life remained a mystery to all, including the esteemed Pack Doctor.

The events of the previous night week ago had left him feeling exposed and defenseless, adding to his already fragile state. Ackerly's fate took a turn for the worse when the Alpha failed to select him as his mate. The ramifications of this decision were felt deeply by Ackerly, as his life began to spiral out of control.

As the sands of time trickled down, he yearned to extend his stay on this mortal plane. He laid on his hospital bed, his mind racing as he tried to determine the best course of action. He was trapped in a life that offered no other options but mere existence. Survival was paramount, and he knew what he had to do.

Breaking the bond with Killan was the only way to ensure his continued existence. It was a difficult decision, one that weighed heavily on his heart. But he knew that sentimentality had no place in the harsh reality of his situation. With a heavy heart, he steeled himself for what was to come, knowing that his very life depended on it.

Should he fail to undertake this crucial step, the attainment of his self-imposed objectives shall remain an elusive pursuit. He was faced with the daunting task of proving his worth before he could attain what he so desperately desired. Despite the lack of faith from those around him, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of success.

He knew that the road ahead would be arduous, but he refused to let the doubts of others deter him from his path. With unwavering determination, he pressed on towards his objectives, fueled by an unyielding belief in his own abilities. For him, the naysayers were merely a minor obstacle on the journey to greatness.

Ackerly appeared to be breathing normally. His heart raced with a fervor that seemed to match the intensity of his emotions. The Doctor, an experienced professional, had observed this phenomenon before and deemed it to be within the realm of normalcy for someone who had experienced rejection. His admiration for the Doctor knew no bounds. Ackerly, with a knowing gaze, kept his lips sealed, refusing to divulge any information to her.

The Pack Doctor inquired about his mate, but he remained tight-lipped, withholding not only his name but any other pertinent details. The Doctor sat in his dimly lit room, her eyes fixed on the man before her. She posed a series of questions, but not all of them were met with a response.

"I shall pay you a visit tomorrow, once I have completed my final examination of your condition. It is imperative that you take some time to recuperate," despite her advanced age, the Doctor exudes a wisdom that belies her years.

Ackerly remained silent, his gaze fixed upon the world outside the window. The Doctor's words reverberated through the air, leaving a stunned silence in his wake. "If the bond is causing you distress," she said, her voice low and measured, "perhaps it is time to consider departing from this land." The weight of her suggestion hung heavy in the air, and Ackerly exchanged uneasy glances at the doctor, unsure of what to make of the unexpected advice. Ackerly's head shook in a slow, deliberate motion.

"Dr. Gracefield," he implored, his voice trembling with emotion. "I fear I cannot comply with your request, for the Alpha himself is the sole obstacle to my departure. Despite his rejection, he found it amusing to mock me," Ackerly wondered why he persisted in tormenting him when the Alpha clearly had no regard for his feelings. Ackerly's chest heaved with an overwhelming weight that threatened to spill out in his words.

The Doctor was taken aback by the words that escaped Ackerly's lips. The Alpha was known far and wide for his unyielding and merciless nature, and this particular instance was no exception. The Doctor had an innate ability to empathize with her patients, and it was no different with the man before her. She could easily comprehend the emotional turmoil that Ackerly was experiencing. Having been a patient for a mere two days, she couldn't quite explain why she felt such a profound sense of sadness for him.

Mrs. Vicky Gracefield, a woman of great authority and poise, held the responsibility of overseeing the Pack Doctors' activities. Her heart ached for their Luna. As he was taken to the hospital, he confided in her, revealing that his sexual orientation had been the cause of his rejection - a truth that she recalled all too well.

Mrs. Gracefield was surprised that the Alpha would have been strengthened by the person he rejected. The Alpha of their pack was a narrow-minded individual who harbored a deep-seated animosity towards those who hailed from different groups. Mrs. Gracefield was a woman of unassuming demeanor, with a quiet confidence that belied her true intellect. Though she possessed a sharp mind and a keen wit, she saw herself as merely average in intelligence. Little did she know that her intelligence far surpassed that of most people around her.

As Mrs. Gracefield gazed upon the young man, her heart ached with sympathy. "Poor boy," she whispered to herself, unable to shake the image of his worn-out clothes and tired eyes. She couldn't help but notice how Luna was conducting himself, despite his obvious discomfort.

Ackerly was fully engrossed in the words of the Pack Doctor as she spoke. He was acutely aware that his only hope lay in seeking the aid of the Doctor. From the moment they had crossed paths, he had been struck by her innate benevolence and compassion. He toiled away as her trusty assistant.

"Please, I implore you, Dr. Gracefield," he pleaded with a sense of urgency in his voice.

"It was imperative that this information remained clandestine, concealed from the prying eyes of the world. Deep within me lies a fervent desire to bring my aspirations to fruition. I am driven by a burning passion to achieve my goals and fulfill my heartfelt wishes. The mere thought of meeting my end at the hands of the Alpha sent shivers down my spine. The very idea of it was enough to make my heart race and my palms sweat. I knew that I had to do everything in my power to avoid such a fate, for the consequences would be dire." Ackerly gazed at the Pack Doctor with a wistful expression.

"If only there existed a means to exist without the bond," he mused aloud. It was the final clandestine possession he held close to his heart. To truly thrive in this world, one must possess a certain level of honesty and knowledge. These qualities are essential for a fulfilling existence and a life of contentment.

Ackerly fell to his knees, his voice trembling as he implored the Doctor for aid. "At the end of the day, I couldn't care less whether he liked me or not. All I want is to live, and when that happens, there's nothing else I could ask for." When a man's life is under jeopardy, he modifies his behavior.

Having endured an immense amount of hardship for an extended period of time, he felt that he was entitled to a longer life than anyone else. Mrs. Gracefield was resolute in her determination to aid Ackerly, even if he did not explicitly request her assistance. Being a doctor, she was well aware of the struggles her patients had to endure, particularly the Luna. With a firm grip on the doorknob, the Doctor turned it shut and took a few steps forward, her eyes fixed on the man standing before her.

Ackerly felt a stirring within him as he contemplated the kindness that Mrs. Gracefield had shown him. "You don't need to beg, Luna," Mrs. Gracefield remarked. I'll do my best. "I may be old, but I know a lot about the world." With a gentle touch, the Doctor extended her hand and enveloped the man's within her own.

Ackerly's emotions overtook him and he collapsed into tears, embracing the elderly woman tightly. "Mrs. Gracefield," he said with a grateful tone, "I cannot express my gratitude enough for your kindness. The memory was etched into my mind, a moment that would remain with me for all time." Tears streamed down his face as he wept uncontrollably. Gratefulness filled his heart as he clung to it tightly, unwilling to let go without a fight.

Ackerly spoke with a polite yet firm tone, addressing Mrs. Gracefield with a hint of regret in his voice. "I humbly apologize, Mrs. Gracefield, but I implore you to refrain from addressing me as Luna, given that you are already aware of the current situation," he said. She agreed, nodding and smiling.

"Have no fear, for I shall not deceive nor betray you," she assured. "To the best of my knowledge, Ackerly, you are a person of great character. Indeed, a multitude of individuals possess the tendency to hastily form opinions without fully comprehending the situation at hand." The Doctor replied with a direct and unwavering response.

"Many thanks, Mrs. Gracefield," he replied. With a genuine grin, he embraced the elderly lady. He replied the elderly lady honestly and respectfully.

He was a man of controversy, eliciting both shame and admiration from those around him. While some were quick to shun him, others saw beyond the surface and recognized the true essence of his being. A sense of contentment washed over Ackerly as he reflected on the events that had transpired. He was pleased with the outcome and felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. A fleeting moment of silence passed before the elderly woman resumed speaking.

She looked at him with a curious expression, her eyes scanning his face for any hint of what he might suggest. "What do you want to do next?" she asked, her voice soft and melodic. He paused for a moment, considering his options before finally responding.

"I'm not sure," he admitted, his brow furrowing in thought. "What do you feel like doing?" The question hung in the air between them, the silence broken only by the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze.

"Despite the potential resolution of the she-wolves' infertility, the looming threat of Alpha Killan's possessive nature weighed heavily on your mind. You knew all too well that he would not release his grip until he had extracted what he desired from you." Nervousness coursed through Mrs. Gracefield's veins, causing her heart to race and her palms to sweat. Ackerly gazed upon her, his eyes fixated on her form.

A bitter smile crept onto his lips.

"Mrs. Gracefield, I am aware that no matter the circumstances, escape is not an option for me." He pondered over the situation, his mind racing with possibilities. If only he could find a way to sever the unbreakable bond between him and his mate, he could escape without relying on the Alpha's assistance. Perhaps, just perhaps, there was a glimmer of hope for him yet.
