(Back to the POV of our main character)
She was talking to me. I noticed that it wasn't English but I was still able to understand her.
Then the System told me:
"You can understand every language spoken in this world!"
"Thanks, would be nice to know that beforehand. That could have saved me some time."
She said that her name was Thalia. She seemed to trust me a little, probably because I freed her. "Makes sense." Also, she wasn't impressed that I was intelligent it seems like many beasts or monsters around here have intelligence.
I looked at her again she was a rather muscular girl with black hair that fell to her shoulders, and her face was similar to Asian but more European. Even though she was muscular, she still had a nice figure. She also had some kind of leather armor on. But as I looked at it, it didn't look strong.
As she wanted to walk away I tapped her leg to signal her, that I would come with her. She first looked startled but seemed to understand. She then shrugged her shoulders and then said: "okay, let's go". As she said so she had a really warm smile on her face. My poor little snake heart made a jump.
"Ahem, whatever". So we got going. I don't want to lie. I didn't know where we were going. So I tried it again with the leg tapping and as soon as I got her attention I pointed in the direction we were going and tilted my head slightly to the side, so it looked like I had a question. She immediately understood what I was trying to say. She said: "Oh I am sorry, I just es wanted to go further into the forest to look out for ruins that is why I was going here with my sister in the first place." Her face darkened immediately as she began telling me about everything that happened to her after her mother died and she was forced to become an adventurer. She got on her knees and cried as she got to the part where her sister got burned alive and eaten. At that part, I slithered over to her slung myself around her belly, and laid my head onto her knees. She first looked sad but then hugged me and cried for a while. "I mean I can't blame her she lost her mother and sister in a short amount of time.
As she was done crying it was already rather late. So we searched for a hideout a few minutes walking or slithering as the modern people say. We found a broken-down tent in the forest. It wasn't really useful anymore so we just took the fabric and Thalia used it to make a little tent where only one human could fit in. It was rather small. I slithered beside her while she drifted into a deep sleep she hugged me. While she was sleeping I looked out for danger in the forest. I dazed away after a while but had my senses still on high alert.
