When they entered, everyone's gaze fell upon them. Not because of her but the man beside her was too domineering and famous.
In fact, she could feel her hand feeling sweat once being held by her boss...
But after a few talks, everything went smoothly. Liam joined them for talks and he walked in another direction to talk with people on behalf of Davis.
Whereas, Lucy stood beside Davis who was currently engaged in a conversation with Mr. Smith, an important businessman as far as she heard. In her mind, she was missing all the important points but till now, there seemed to be one.
"Mr. Walker, if you don't mind me asking, who is the beautiful lady beside you?" The man was in his early thirties and seeing such a beauty beside Walker did make him envious.
But deep down, he expected Davis to offer her to him since it was a very open game in the business. Pleasure the boss, you get the contrast.
However, to his dismay, Davis not only talked back but passed a glare.
Later on, he blurted out, "My secretary. Lucy. I hope you know Mr. Smith, how much I cherish my employee and she is one of them.'' His words were simple on the surface but held indifferent meaning behind them.
If a person was smart enough, it won't be a problem for them to understand and so was Mr. Smith, who smiled back. "I understand your concern for your people. Who would like to let go of such talented people." saying this, he passed Lucy a smile and she did the same.
But deep down, her heart felt disgusted. 'Tsk tsk. Did he think he could take me to his bed? I would cut his balls first so that he can't even take anyone else!' thankfully, Davis saved her in this.
But it wasn't so easily completed as she saw another man leading towards them but this time, with a girl of her age.
"Mr. Joly. How gracious of you to come here." Davis said and shook hands with him. "It is a pleasure for me to see you here. I thought why not introduce my daughter Stella...she is...."
At this stage, Davis passed Lucy a glance from the corner of his eyes.
Realizing her need, she stepped forward to shake her hand with the lady known as Stella, "Lucy Warner, Davis's partner, and his secretary. If you ever feel like working with our company, please let me know and I would love to guide you there. You see, Davis is a busy man..."
"Oh...Sure. I can never doubt Mr. Davis's people but...I would still love it if Mr. Walker will personally teach me.'' Her tone was ambitious and Lucy knew this lady would not leave so easily. "Obviously, but I'm the one who makes his schedule. Unfortunately, he is very much packed with different things."
"Oh..." The lady's face fell upon hearing how Lucy addressed Davis. Her eyes were courting a glare at the lady but all Lucy did was smile.
In fact, Lucy had given her a tight handshake to make her realize her strong presence.
Yet this wasn't the only problem since the lady was very well versed in when to stop her tactic. She nudged her father and as per her demand, Mr. Joly had taken his excuse from them which both of them have with a grin.
Once they were left alone, Lucy's eyes twinkled at how she insulted and shut down the lady in front of her just now.
But on the other hand, when she moved to look at Davis, she could feel his scornful gaze at her. "T-That...I felt she must be a fly for you so."
"You did well," Davis replied with a faint smile and this made her more courageous. "But I'm sorry...I called your name. I will not do so but it is needed to make an image in her mind that-"
"I won't mind that. It's fine, I understand." Davis's reply made her sigh.
At least he wasn't mad at her for acting so badly in front of one of their clients.
In the night, they met more people with great smiles. They even complimented Lucy which she took with a heavy heart, but it surprised her that people were comparing her with this devil boss!
"You know, I never saw this man bringing a lady with him. So it is indeed very surprising." She heard the other people say and it made her curious.
Didn't he use other female secretaries as partners too? Even Liam said once he did.
But without trying to intrude in Davis's personal life, she maintained her composure and didn't answer anything. 'If Davis hasn't rejected them, there must be a reason.'
She gets a salary and bonus. That's all she needs!
Yet then Lucy felt Davis's body getting stiff. Following his line of sight, she found a lady who was walking in their direction and Lucy needed no more information to know who she was.
Meanwhile, Davis could feel a block of wood inside his throat. He had to take a deep breath to not let his anger surge right now.
He tore his gaze from her and took a sip from his wine until he inhaled the perfume of the lady and found his mind getting dizzier with the faint memories that lingered by.
Sierra came to stand in front of Davis and laughed, "Never expected to see you here, Davis. I thought you weren't into attending the industry's parties. Seems like this was one of your deep hidden qualities, wasn't it?"
"Sierra, it's none for business, remember that."
Hearing this, Sierra chuckled. She brought her fingers near her lips to stop herself from laughing at the joke, "Obviously. But what can I do? You are so good that I can't help but remember you, Davis."
