Chapter Five

Dabi had been going to drink away his problems at a local bar (he didn't want to drink at the League's bar, that would require socialising), and when he went into the bar, he had seen Mirko attempting to drag Hawks with her.

It might have been a little strange to others that Dabi had decided to go drinking at midnight, but it was a 24 hour bar, so it's not like it wasn't an option. Dabi couldn't sleep that night anyway.

Dabi looked at Hawks, a soft smile on his face. "Where is your apartment, birdie?" He asked, wiping the soft look off his face and replacing it with a neutral expression.

Hawks looked at him. "Over there!" He pointed to an apartment building nearby.

Dabi nodded, adjusting his grip on Hawks. He then frowned. "Would it be better if I gave you a piggyback?"

Hawks groaned. "Nooo you can put me down I can walk by myself!" He huffed.

Jeez. He was a loud drunk.

"No you can't." Dabi put Hawks down gently, before getting down on his knees in front of Hawks, facing away from him. He put his arms back. "Come on."

Hawks sighed before hopping onto Dabi's back, and Dabi got up, gripping Hawks' legs, and set off again. Hawks put his arms around Dabis neck, snuggling his head into Dabis black leather jacket.

Dabi flushed slightly, before shaking it off. 'He's drunk, and we're not together anymore. Shut the fuck up brain.'

"What room are you in?" Dabi asked, to break the silence that had fallen over them.

"Ummm 67." Hawks said, burrowing deeper into Dabi and shivering after a cold breeze blew over them.

"Alright." Dabi let the silence fall back over them as he walked up to the apartment building. He kept his face low, and walked until he found Hawks' place. "Birdie." He said, shaking Hawks slightly.

Hawks stirred and slid off Dabi's back. He grabbed his key from his pocket and shakily opened the door. He yawned, and went to stumble in, but Dabi caught him.

"I don't trust you alone, Birdie."

He walked Hawks into the apartment slowly. Dabi stared around. It was big. Its smelled fresh, but the smell of alcohol from Hawks was blocking it out.

Dabi went with Hawks to his bedroom, Hawks stumbling as he led Dabi around.

"I'm gonna leave you to it. You should have a shower and change, you stink." Dabi said, wrinkling his nose.

Hawks pouted. "Fineee." He went into his room and shut the door.

Hawks put a hand to his head. He was feeling dizzy. He went over to his wardrobe and grabbed whatever pyjamas he could find and walked into his en suite bathroom, using the walls to keep him upright as he waited for the dizzy spell to pass.

Once he felt he could, he got undressed and turned on the shower. He waited a minute until it turned hot, then stepped in. Hawks let the warm water cascade down his body as he attempted to calm down his hyperness from the alcohol. Dabi was here, and he couldn't afford to fuck this up.

He hadn't seen him in months.

Hawks washed himself as best he could with shake limbs and turned off the shower. He stepped out, grabbing a towel and wrapping himself in it.

He got dressed in an old, white t-shirt and plaid pyjama pants. He threw the towel in the wash basket and stepped back into his room, careful to watch his step. The shower had sobered him up a bit, but he was still tipsy.

Hawks walked out of his room, checking to see if Dabi was around. He went into the kitchen, and he found a note beside a glass of water.

Drink the water, and take the aspirin. It'll help. Don't thank me. Call me lat -Dabi.

Hawks smiled as he read the note, although disappointed Dabi didn't stay. The note sounded just like him. He hasn't changed.

Hawks found the pill and took it, sipping the water, before yawning and deciding to just go to bed.

Dabi slipped out of Hawks' apartment, and walked down the corridors until he exited the building. He walked out into the dark night, the stars shining bright in the sky. Dabi ran a hand through his hair as he began to make his way back to the LOV base.

As he walked, Dabi thought over what had happened that night. He was glad he got to see Hawks but... he didn't get to say what he wanted to say. Probably for the best. Hawks was drunk after all.

He reached the base and opened the slightly creaky door. Dabi walked inside and shut the door behind him. He wandered up to his room, before being stopped by Toga.

"Dabi! Where have you been?!" Toga asked, running to hug him.

Dabi dodged her. "Out."

Toga pouted. "No hug? Fine. But out where~"

Dabi shrugged. "Somewhere."

Toga wrinkled her nose. "Eww. You smell of alcohol. Were you drinking?"

Dabi grunted, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Didn't get to. Someone else's scent, not mine."

"Ooh? Who's scent is it then~" Toga wiggled her eyebrows at him.

"No one's. Shut up. Nothing happened anyways." He walked past Toga to go upstairs when he heard her gasp.

She reached into his hair and pulled out...

A red feather.

"You were with Hawks?!" She asked, holding the feather in her hand.

Dabi spun around. "Fine. Yeah I was. What's it to you?"

"So he was the drunk one then? And you took care of him?" Toga giggled.

"I didn't do shit, Himiko. I just took him home." Dabi sighed.

"Aww cute. You're still in denial!" Toga grinned.

"Shut up. I'm not in denial about anything. Go to bed you child." Dabi scoffed.

"Aww Dabi's so boringgg. And I'm not a child, I'm 16!" Toga protested.

"Yeah. A child."

She pouted. "Hmph. Well, good luck with the Hawks situation~" Toga then skipped off, probably to go to her room.

Dabi walked upstairs and into his own room, sighing. There was no 'situation' with Hawks. He just happened to be there. And he didn't want Hawks to get hurt by some randomer who would take advantage of a drunk guy.

They had broken up. But still, a little voice in Dabi's head was making him think. What if, just maybe, he and Hawks did get back together. What would it be like.

A tiny smile betrayed his denial to Toga earlier, as he went to go get changed and go to bed.
