Chapter 28- AN UNFORESEEN REUNION

"Rayyy, your beloved sisters are hooome." Vanessa called out loudly as she intentionally dragged her feets across the marble floor, making a squirking noise and walking through the hallway in that noisy manner while hitting her flip-flops in her hands together.

Amy followed behind, her hands occupied with dragging both of their traveling bags before setting them against the wall not too far from a ceramic vase filled with flowers .

There were more tall vases like that with set distances between them, lined up in the hallway. The flowers gave off a pleasant smell that wafted through the hallway bringing a sense of calmness to the nerves. Although, her hot tempered restless twin seemed to have grown resistant to it.

Taking a look at the white wall, golden framed pictures hung in a circular pattern.

"Bet Van didn't see these pictures." Amy's soft porcelain-like hand traced the bright smile in the picture frame before turning to trace the artwork on the opposite wall with a soft chuckle.

"How time flies..." She sighed, placing her hands into the pocket of her pants. She moved on to the dining room which was already set, making her sigh again.

"He hasn't changed." She said, staring at the set dining for a moment before catching the sound of a creaking door coming from the kitchen.

Stepping into the kitchen, the door leading to the Arizona was wide open and a gust of cold midnight air blew in, making the door creak again.

"Vanessa?" Amy called for her twin.

Going back to the dining, she called for her twin again. Getting no response, she went back to the kitchen, closing the door as she stepped into the arizona. She was about to take another step when the small gate flew open as a shirtless Vanessa stormed in with a rare serious look and two daggers in hand. There was a bleeding cut on one of her pretty little abs and fire kept spitting from her crystal green eyes until it landed on Amelia.

"Great! You're here. Our sane beloved brother has suddenly gone crazy. He's freaking saving something that tried to kill me again and again, and now, he's bringing it home!" Vanessa heaved.

"Or should I say her? But if that thing wakes up and starts killing everyone, I'll kill it first, then kill him next!"

She hissed through her teeth before storming back into the house through the kitchen, slamming the door.

Amelia's bewildered attention was drawn back to the little back gate as a man with dark-brown hair walked in with someone wrapped up in his arms. Golden tresses hung in the air as the man adjusted the person in his arms. He raised his head and his hazel eyes landed on Amelia. This man was Amelia and Vanessa's elder brother, Raymond.

With a sigh, Amelia walked past him to lock the gate before catching up with him.

"Need a hand?" She asked, offering to help.

"No." Raymond declined, proceeding to climb up the stairs. His hazel eyes looked at the dining below making him pause his steps before looking sideways.

"Since it's midnight, I made something light. You both should eat something before going to bed." He said before moving on.

Amy watched from the foot of the staircase as her brother's strong but somehow lonely backview, went out of sight.

Picking up a mop and a bucket, she cleaned up the blood spots making a trail from the Arizona up to a portion of the staircase.

Once she was done, she went into her room which was adjacent to Van's. For a minute, she stayed still, staring at her reflection in the mirror.

She pulled off her white t-shirt and kept staring at her porcelain-like body before gently raising her hand towards her ponytail, pulling off her hairbond.

Waves of lush vibrant red hair cascaded down her shoulders to her waist. Unlike Vanessa's visible abs, her flat waist was smooth and flexible.

There was an outlined mark that looked like thunder just above her right pelvic girdle. Currently, this thundermark had two lines that divided it into three parts. Starting from the bottom part, the outline was blue and it stopped just where the first line met it on both sides. Just like that, the middle part was purple and the last part was black. The divided spaces within the mark however remained blank with just the color of her skin.

Done with the assessment of her body, she turned away from the mirror, grabbing her bathrobe before entering her bathroom.

******

Knock knock knock.

"Come in."

There was the sound of a door opening and then closing. Soft footsteps which couldn't be easily heard due to the furry rug on the room's floor, proceeded towards the open floor to ceiling glass window which led to a small balcony .

"Was thinking someone would be dead asleep in her beloved's embrace by now." Amelia's voice sounded.

"Well she kicked me out and asked me to calm my freaking nerves before thinking of stepping into her embrace so here I am. Kicked out by my beloved."

Vanessa replied from her balcony.

Joining her, Amy leaned against the railing.

In her black wolf onesie, Vanessa leaned her back against the railing, folding her arms. She brought out one of her daggers, turning it slowly around her finger as it gave off a cold gleam under the moonlight.

"How's the wound on your abdomen?" Amelia asked. Though she seemed to be looking out into the woods beyond the walls, her eyes moved to the side, observing her twin.

"Healed."

"Oh. Used the salve?" Amelia asked again.

"Salve? Sure. And it healed instantly."

"Alright." Amelia's eyes moved forward, staring into the late midnight sky.

The sound of Van's swinging dagger swishing through the air stopped. "I've been thinking Amy. Don't you find something strange?" She asked.

"Like?"

"We both know Ray's been keeping things from us like his laboratory and all but, don't you feel like there are some things he's not telling us?"

"Finally. Been thinking I was the only one who noticed."

"So you've noticed? Since when?"

"Yh, I have and since when doesn't matter anymore. One sure thing is that we will be getting answers from Ray tomorrow, even without asking him." Amelia finished, pushing herself off the rail as she straightened her pyjamas.

"It's today, not tomorrow. It's past one already."

"Later today it is then. Get some sleep sis, your beloved's embrace should be available now." Amelia chuckled lightly.

With a soft sigh, Van nodded as she watched her twin gracefully exit her room. After locking the floor to ceiling window and putting off the lights, she finally fell asleep in her bed's embrace.

In the woods behind the mansion, a bird hooted as it kept watching the balcony, even though there wasn't anyone there anymore.

Suddenly, it flew off the tree it had perched on, landing on the shoulder of a man who, hidden by the cover of darkness, was equally staring at the place where the twins had just left.
