28 Random Act of Kindness 8

Then, they aired their opinion one after the other.

“That is a good one because I don't like this organization. I will float my oil company with my gratuity.”

“This is good news. I will be self-employed and rest from the rigorous rules of the company; waking up early to meet with the resumption time.”

“I will be as free as a bird. I will not have to be conscious to reveal my place of work.”

“I have a different plan," one of them stated.

“Yes, let's hear it.”

“With the number of years and experience I have put into the Cherry Fields, I will be a hot cake in the labor market.”

“Wow! I have not thought in that direction.”

“You better do. With your gratuity from the Cherry Fields and a new job with fat salary, you would be a fulfilled man.”

However, some staff members reapplied even before they got to the end of the memo.

At the Underground.

The four hundred and sixty-seven soldiers, who were not at the training area, got the memo before the others who were busy with their training. Meanwhile, to Ahmed, whether they were willing to reapply or not, he had sieved them out of the Cherry Fields, but he would permit any soldiers on his list to leave. While they provided their details to Ralf and the Orderly, he walked back to the underground and addressed the insubordinate soldiers.

“Good day to you all.”

The sound of their response made the underground to vibrate, but it was too late.

“Good morning, boss.”

“I wish to appreciate you, on behalf of the Chairman, and the management of the Cherry Fields for the number of years that you have put in her services. I wish you success in your future endeavors. Thank you for listening.”

With this, he was able to separate the wheat from the chaff and revamped the security system at the Headquarters.

Afterward, he joined the International Vice Chairman at his office and hinted him on all that took place at the underground.

“Good job, Ahmed.”

“Thank you, boss.”

At the Surgical Center

“Jewel.”

Leon announced, looking at the women surrounding him, who were as startled as he was.

“Mind what you tell her," Dora warned instantly. Then, Leon nodded and picked the call while they looked on.

“Hello, Jewel. It's a pleasure hearing from you.”

“Leon, I am glad to hear from you too. I'm at the airport. I sent a message to Grandpa and Jeff before I boarded. Not only that, but I'm surprised that none of you is here.”

Now, Leon, who was bereft of speech, ran his hand through his head and looked at his mothers, for a clue, but got none. Then he took it upon himself to redeem the situation.

“Just wait for me. I'm coming to pick you up.”

“Thank you. I'm waiting.”

(Cut)

He locked eyes with the mothers and announced.

“Let's not keep her waiting. I will be back.”

“Okay Leon. Be careful.”

“I will, grandma.”

He hung his backpack and walked out of the reception, while Dora glued her butt to the chair and looked on.

“Dora, let's go. You don't blame her, she must have had the sneaking suspicion that her brother and grandfather are in danger.”

Dora stood up and fought back her tears.

“Don't embarrass yourself in the public," Madam Jessica encouraged with an emotional tone. Now, Dora had to be strong to help her mother-in-law.

“All right, mother. Please be strong, too.”

At the Ancestral Manor

She nodded, and they walked out of the reception to meet the security men and driver. They got home and retired to their rooms to rest and cry. Now, Ken and Ahmed were through with their meeting and returned home instead of going to the hospital. He would always be updated by Dr. Williams. Nevertheless, they got home and met the Parlor empty, unlike the previous day when his mother and wife were with the Grayson.

Then, he walked to the elevator and got to his room forthwith to meet his wife with a crestfallen face.

“Welcome back, Hubby," she said, and walked up to him and gave him a hug. She rested her head on his shoulder while he wrapped her with his right hand.

“I don't mean to bother you,” she stated, and her husband encouraged at once.

“No. I'm not bothered. You have suppressed the tears for long. Let them come and you would be fine.”

Nevertheless, she took a deep breath when she noticed that he was not aware that Jewel was in the country and assisted him to undress.

“Thank you, Hubby. You must be tired.”

Ken chuckled at her sudden mood swing and undressed too. When he had changed into casual wears, his wife requested, “If you're not too tired, can we see mom?”

He looked at her and searched for any clue, and consented when he found none.

“It is okay. Afterward, I will rest my head undisturbed.”

“You are right.”

They walked to their mother's suite and knocked, fortunately, she was still in the parlor chatting with Mr. Beam over Prof. Green's case.

“Son, are you back?” She inquired when Ken opened the door. Now, Ken had searched her countenance and could not find any course for alarm.

“Yes, mother. How was your day?”

“Come in.” She announced cheerfully and walked back to the room while the couple followed. Then, she continued.

“My day, was full of good news.”

“Wow! That is interesting.” Ken responded.

“Prof. Green's case is not as critical as it seemed. Mr. Beam had just informed me.”

“That is good. By the way, has he been moved out of the surgical center?”

“Yes, hubby. He was moved this morning.”

“And Leon thought he was dead when he got to his ward and met his bed empty.”

Madam Jessica added sarcastically, which caused Ken to laugh. Then he asked.

“By the way, where is he? I didn't see his car at the car park.”

Now, the moment that Dora feared most, that made her to bring him over. Then, madam Jessica made the matter mild by presenting it as a thing of joy to her.
