Chapter 75

After more than half a month of vacation, Mark had already left the Northwestern region and returned to his hometown.

However, calling it his hometown was a stretch, as he rarely stayed here.

That was because there was no one left in his family.

His parents were researchers in a secret organization, and when he was very young, they both perished in an accident. It was his grandfather who raised him.

Unfortunately, even his grandfather succumbed to old wounds that resurfaced when Mark was in high school.

Following his grandfather's will, the old man was laid to rest in the Martyrs' Cemetery, alongside his old comrades.

The location where Mark crossed over was near this Martyrs' Cemetery.

After leaving the jungle, he once again came to the cemetery, found his grandfather's grave, and sat there for a while before getting up to leave.

"Isn't that the kid?" Behind him, two spirited old men stood in front of the caretaker's cabin in the cemetery, watching Mark as they conversed.

"Yeah, this kid has also had a hard life, back in the day."

"Yeah," the other one halted the discussion.

What they didn't know was that Mark's senses were highly developed at this moment. Even though he was more than twenty meters away, he still heard their conversation clearly.

His brow furrowed slightly. "Could there be some hidden truth behind my parents' death?"

To be honest, his memories of his parents were extremely faint.

When he was very young, his parents were often absent from home. By the time he entered elementary school, they were rarely seen at all. Later on, they received news of their passing due to unforeseen circumstances.

Funny enough, he didn't even feel much grief at the time.

However, if there were any hidden secrets, he wanted to investigate them thoroughly.

After all, no matter what, they were his biological parents.

After leaving the cemetery, he returned home.

His body was now experiencing discomfort due to energy depletion, so Mark lay down on his bed and took a good nap.

Fortunately, he had tidied up a bit before, so the house was barely habitable.

That's how Mark spent most of his day.

When he woke up, the sky had already darkened completely.

However, despite wasting most of the day, Mark felt much better after waking up.

There were a little over two days left until the end of his vacation.

One day would be spent on the road back to the base, leaving him with a little more than one day. Mark decided to use that time to watch as many Spider-Man-related works as possible.

After a hasty dinner, Mark turned on his computer and began searching for anything related to Spider-Man.

Movies, animations, comics, games, and even fanfiction on some websites—all of it fell within his reading scope.

Through this extensive reading, he gained a deeper understanding of Spider-Man, especially the most elite Spider-Men in terms of combat prowess.

The most formidable among them was the Beyonder Spider-Man.

The Beyonder is a unique concept in the Marvel Universe, said to originate from a dimension called the "Beyonder Realm," surpassing all beings in the Multiverse.

The idea behind the Beyonder Spider-Man is that he's a Spider-Man who has acquired the abilities of the freaking PRE RETCON Beyonder.

The second-ranking Spider-Man is known as the Phoenix Force Spider-Man or Spider-Phoenix.

But this version is confusing and was said to be fake and its Phoenix powers isn't the real one so there's that.

The next one would be Ghost Spider.

In the parallel universe designated as "Earth-11638," where most universes have been sacrificed, Uncle Ben, who was supposed to have died, actually survived. He swore to mentor Peter Parker and guide him to take on the responsibility of fighting evil in this world ridden with crime.

As time passed, this universe's Spider-Man became the most famous and powerful hero in the world.

However, in secret, the two of them were engaged in something truly wicked.

They captured other Spider-Men from parallel universes, killed them, and absorbed their energy to enhance their own power.

The iconic quote of Spider-Man, "With great power comes great responsibility," became distorted when "power" clouded their hearts, turning them into ruthless do-gooders.

The greater the responsibility, the greater the power?

Even if it means resorting to any means necessary?

Later, under the persuasion of the 616 Spider-Man, who had also been captured and was about to become a sacrifice, the conscience of the Spider-Man from Universe-11638 was awakened.

The Spider-Man from Universe-11638 felt the sorrow of those innocent Spider-Men from parallel universes who had been unjustly killed. Therefore, he released the 616 universe Spider-Man.

However, just as they relaxed, Uncle Ben turned the power absorber towards the main universe's Spider-Man, attempting to carry out his version of "ruthless justice."

At a critical moment, Spider-Man from Universe-11638 intercepted the blow aimed at him, but in doing so, his power went berserk and he fell into hell.

Subsequently, in hell, Spider-Man from Universe-11638 made a pact with Mephisto and upon waking, he became the Ghost Spider!

His power is the sum of multiple Spider-Men from parallel universes, plus all the abilities of the Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider. It's said that under normal circumstances, he can defeat Galactus.

If he enters the Ghost state, he becomes even stronger.

However, this guy is way too dangerous, having killed so many Spider-Men. It's better not to encounter him, hoping that he's no longer around.

And next would be the Cosmic Spider-Man.

Captain Universe is one of the abstract entities, the Eternal Guardian, chosen by the enigma force which is also known the Uni-Power.

It can enhance various attributes of the host, such as endurance, agility, and more. Additionally, it can grant special abilities like energy blasts, object manipulation, molecular manipulation, and flight.

So, in this state, Spider-Man's power likely reaches a single-universe level.

Further down the list, Spider-Men's strengths are probably all about the same, mostly at the surface level.

While learning about Spider-Man, Mark also referenced the opinions of versatile netizens, gaining a clearer understanding of the various power levels within the Marvel system.
