Chapter 143

The reputation of 94 Spider's identity has undergone a recent reversal.

Radd and Nora, whom he rescued, gained attention. Radd is the son of the owner of a newspaper in New York City. Although this newspaper is not as powerful as the Daily Bugle, under Radd strong push, it changed its previous behavior and started praising Spider-Man's deeds, putting them on the front page.

Initially met with skepticism, continuous reporting and testimonials from many people helped turn Spider-Man's public image around.

Despite Daily Bugle's relentless efforts to smear Spider-Man, with the praise from Radd's newspaper, the voices supporting and opposing Spider-Man almost reached a balance.

This greatly surprised 94 Spider.

Who wouldn't desire recognition from others?

Especially his Aunt May, who, after reading Radd's newspaper reports about Spider-Man helping so many people, gradually changed her attitude towards Spider-Man.

Of course, Planet Daily(Radd's newspaper) newspaper didn't do this entirely without gain.

Apart from Radd initially incurring losses due to gratitude for saving his life, later, because it broke Spider-Man's conventional image, it unexpectedly led to a continuous increase in newspaper sales.

Not only that, as Spider-Man gained fans' support later on, Planet Daily newspaper's sales began to stabilize completely.

The value of Planet Daily newspaper naturally soared, even showing signs of competing with Daily Bugle in just over a month!

—Of course, this is limited to the newspaper industry. Daily Bugle's investments cover various aspects, being a behemoth. For instance, Jameson is a shareholder in Osborne Tech.

But Radd and his father were already satisfied.

Being able to gain practical benefits while helping someone in need, what's not to be happy about?

Last week, when 94 Spider appeared at Radd's and Nola's wedding, it further enhanced 94 Spider's and Planet Daily's newspaper's popularity.

Of course, these events had nothing to do with Mark at the moment.

Currently, he is in the Research Institute, waiting for the arrival of the Time Tablet.

According to the notice, the Time Tablet will arrive at the New York Port at 12:43 noon today.

However, recalling the plot, if nothing unexpected happens, when the Time Tablet arrives, Silvermane (another crime boss) will send his henchman Hammerhead to seize it.

So, he contacted 94 Spider in advance, asking him to help bring back the Tablet of Time.

What surprised Mark, though, was that things didn't quite match his expectations.

Besides Hammerhead sent by Silvermane, there was also a large army of Spider Robots.

This Spider Robot army came from Kingpin, who took in Alistair, defeated by 94 Spider, and had the former manufacture Spider Killer Robots.

Before this, Alistair had dispatched Spider Killer Robots several times to fight 94 Spider but was repeatedly defeated.

This time, they were better prepared, directly sending out six Spider Killer Robots.

Although Hammerhead had a unknown metal surgically embedded in his head, his physical abilities were only at an average human level and were quickly defeated in front of the army of robots.

94 Spider, on the other hand, handled them with ease.

In the past month, he not only completely familiarized himself with his new body and powers but also manufactured new spider silk.

These new spider silks were more resilient than before, with hardness surpassing steel and significantly increased flexibility.

Compared to the webbing of other Spider-Men that Mark had encountered, it had the advantage of rapid firing.

After a brief confrontation, '94 Spider quickly identified the weaknesses of these Spider Killer Robots and efficiently rendered two of them useless.

However, Alistair, controlling them from behind, probably knew that '94 Spider's strength had significantly increased for some reason, making these outdated Spider Kill Robots no match for him.

So, these robots were just pawns, used to delay him.

Their real goal remained the Time Tablet.

At first, the Time Tablet was indeed taken away.

But they didn't anticipate that '94 Spider had backup.

When they took the Tablet away with a helicopter, thinking everything was going smoothly, Mark used a portal to directly transport '94 Spider onto that helicopter.

Suddenly, it was like a tiger entering a flock of sheep.

'94 Spider swiftly subdued all of them, then, with the Time Tablet, headed to the Research Institute.

Dr. Conners had known in advance that Mark wanted to study the Time Tablet, and it seemed from a perspective different from modern science.

However, he didn't mind.

He was only interested in the rumored ability of the Time Monument to rejuvenate people. But, to be honest, he had little confidence that anything substantial could be discovered.

His only request was that Mark could study it with him observing, and if Mark found anything, it would be even better if he could inform him.

So, Mark easily got hold of the Time Tablet.

However, after some research, he was somewhat disappointed.

This so-called Time Tablet had nothing to do with "time."

It was more like a high-polymer converter, based on some mysterious magic, with stellar energy as the core driving force.

According to scientific research, the average number of times normal human cells divide is approximately 50, and the lifespan of cells after each division is roughly 2.4 years. Therefore, the theoretical lifespan of a human is 120 years.

The effect of the Time Monument is to "synthesize" the cells within the human body exposed to it.

To put it in simple terms:

The cells before division are called mother cells, and the newly divided cells are called daughter cells.

After division, the mother cell gradually ages until it dies, and the daughter cell, over time, becomes a new mother cell, and so on.

After the intervention of the Time Monument, the daughter cells that had divided returned to the mother cells and merged back together.

As the Time Tablet continued its operation, this effect became increasingly pronounced until it could no longer "synthesize."

It essentially reverted to the state of the original mother cell—the fertilized egg.

In the original story, the villainous old man Silvermane was turned into a child because of this.

Later, the Vulture also deciphered this technology from the Time Tablet, enabling him to develop machines that could briefly restore youth.

The actual operating principle was the same.

His machine established a mysterious connection between himself and the target, allowing a certain degree of cell exchange. However, this connection had a limited duration, which was why he needed to continuously attack others to obtain youth.

Although this technology, capable of regressing cells and theoretically achieving eternal youth, was impressive, it was far from what Mark initially sought—a power over time.

So, after researching it, Mark was somewhat disappointed.

Immortality, that's all.

"Well, it's better than nothing," Mark comforted himself.

It indeed felt a bit like getting something extra while playing hard to get.

As for how to dispose of the Time Tablet, after fully deciphering its effects, they carefully considered it and decided to destroy it completely.

Such a thing that violated the laws of nature, once in the hands of someone with ill intentions, would plunge the world into irreversible disaster.

Anyway, no one knew they had the Time Tablet.

To the outside world, this Time Tablet was taken by a mysterious person controlling robots, and although Spider-Man was powerful and tried hard, he was temporarily entangled by those robots.

So, the blame was placed on Kingpin.

Kingpin wanted to maintain his public image as a philanthropist, naturally unable to openly accuse Spider-Man of taking and hiding the Time Tablet. He could only remain silent—having no plausible explanation.

But at the same time, Mark's actions completely escalated the conflict between '94 Spider and Kingpin.

This prompted Kingpin to initiate a long-planned plan!

Due to Alistair Smythe's repeated failures, Kingpin lost all interest in him, thinking he was just wasting so much of his investments.

Everything he researched turned out to be garbage!

So, he had his men capture Alistair and throw him into the serum originally created to deal with mutants, turning him into a genetically modified human—a Ultimate Spider Killer!

The Ultimate Spider Killer was extremely powerful; he possessed great strength, defense comparable to famous metals, and two small tentacles mutated on his shoulders that could shoot lasers.

Even the enhanced '94 Spider wasn't his match!

In the end, Gwen intervened, and together, they temporarily repelled the Ultimate Spider Killer.

But as a result, Gwen's identity was exposed!

Of course, this was within Mark's plan.

He had been in '94 Spider's world for two months, but Madame Web had yet to show up.

He subtly asked '94 Spider, who told him that she hadn't contacted him either.

This made Mark restless.

The other purposes for coming to this world had already been fulfilled.

The inheritors could appear at any time, and he didn't want to keep wasting time with Madame Web here.

After all, according to the original timeline, Madame Web would summon '94 Spider to participate in the Secret Wars, and that was still many years away!

By then, '94 Spider would have graduated from Empire State University and become an assistant professor.

He didn't have so much time to waste here!

So, he and Gwen calculated, removed the spider totem aura from Gwen, and completely exposed her.

Madame Web couldn't sit still this time!

Over the past two months, she had been observing Mark

The more she observed, the more she could sense Mark's mystery.

And when she felt the familiar aura suddenly exposed from Gwen, Madame Web was utterly shocked!
