The sound of kids playing and laughter rose to the sky as Sterling watched the children from the rector's office window. He was distracted from packing. Thinking about his future child with Faye.
He wondered as the kids below sang out in joy, 'What color hair would their baby have? Would it have ruby orbs like him or wide, beautiful, deep ocean-blue eyes like Fayes? Was she having a boy or a girl?'
There was so much he was eager to know about his unborn child.
His heart was filled with so much excitement that he could barely keep his mind on his current task. Packing his gear for the trip home. He was about to give up and call for a servant to help when a knock came on the rector's door.
"KNOCK…KNOCK…KNOCK…!"
Sterling shouted to the person, knocking on the other side, "It's open you may enter!"
The door creaked as it swung open, and Sterling saw Carter waiting to speak with him on the other side.
