The young bride now believes death would have been preferable to being sold into this heartless union with her family’s former adversary and the man responsible for her current unfortunate circumstances.

However, over time, even as she struggles to liberate herself from this abomination of a man, Faye discovers their red strings of fate are more closely intertwined than she once imagined.
      
They both have become unwilling puppets of the empire. With the many hidden agendas and secrets of those in power surrounding them, they will have to put away their differences and form an alliance if they wish to survive.

Faye lay beside Sterling and explained, "I have never felt so weak, with my body drained of all its energy after I created the rune. Ethan even stopped moving, and that was the most frightening experience of all."

Speaking of the baby, Sterling said. "I swear your belly is growing larger by the day."

Faye chuckled at the comment. "That is to be expected. He is growing. That happens with all expectant mothers."

"No Faye, I mean you growing bigger at an unusually fast rate, and it concerns me. When we get to the Empire, I am going to see if one of the royal physicians can look at you. Not that I don't trust Hildie, Helena, or our doctor. I just want to make sure everything is alright."

"I understand," Faye said with a nod of her head.
