chapter 99-Pitter-patter

Cecilia pov

The midterm exam results came out quickly this time.

On the last class meeting of Friday afternoon, I stood at the podium clutching the ranking list. As I sat in my seat, my hands and feet were ice-cold, and I was sweating profusely. I was even too nervous to really listen, biting my fingernail and breathing heavily.

Our class teacher scanned the room and stopped at my face, smiling.

"Cecilia, stand up," she said.

My hands trembled, and I stood up nervously, looking at the teacher.

"Our math teacher insisted that I praise you as soon as you walked in. You've made rapid progress. What was your score last time?" the teacher asked.

"95 points," I replied.

"This time you got 135 points."

The whole class erupted in astonishment, followed by applause. A few boys whistled and praised me enthusiastically.
