It was dawn outside. Dane blinked the sleepiness from his eyes as the bedroom door opened. He had managed to snatch a few moments of sleep holding his slumbering (and snoring) mate close to him. He untangled himself from the thoroughly rumpled bed and luxuriated in the scent of lovemaking. Every cell in his body felt energized.


In a moment, he would prepare himself for the serious business ahead.  Through the large plate glass bedroom window, he could hear the howls and snarls of wolves engaged in battle drills. He’d led some of them while Lilia and her crew prepared the feast.


Everything was ready. Kyon, Jiro, and Dirge probably had everything handled for their departure, their route mapped out. If he only could have one Alpha covering him in battle, Jude Faolan was it. The strategy session with Jude proved extremely productive, which was one of the reasons Dane felt free to relax and enjoy the feast with one big combined pack family.
