Chapter 54 - Dragon Dragon vs Human Dragon

Chapter 54 - Dragon Dragon vs Human Dragon

(A/N So ummm... its been a while

I know, I know, I said two weeks but its been like half a year, but I'm back, well kinda.

I'm very sorry for not being online and updating the novel. Basically, things happened in my life and I kinda needed that time off. Plus, I kinda felt burn out about new ideas for my novel and just writing in general. I also had exams and everything on top of this so it was hard for me.

Anyway, I'm back now, everythings sorted and exams are over, which is good. However, I'm not going to be able to update and post new chapters everyday. The burnout is real, so I'd say at least one chapter a week, and depends on if I feel motivated and if I have time, I might add more chapters.

My chapters may also drop in quality, or even increase in quality idk. It will probably take me a couple chapters to get back into the mood again, so please bare with me.

I might also add this story to webnovel too. So if you see a book with the same name as this written by the same author, it will probably be me.

Anyway, thanks for reading and staying with me. 😊

...

It was a bright and early morning.

Artoria, having been accustomed to her job now, woke up and did all her necessities. She brushed her teeth, made her bed, and went to the training rooms.

After doing her daily warmups of cutting mountains in half, she finally went downstairs. The normal and polite Artoria would just go straight downstairs without any other tasks, but as the alter one, apparently releasing her strength was very important.

The familiar room soon greeted her and she quietly approached to her seat. Well, it's not hers exactly but it might as well be since no one but her sits there.

She then took out a very special bowl from nowhere and tipped it over. Magically, a full English breakfast was somehow summoned onto a plate that was somehow summoned. Despite both the plate and the food being bigger than the bowl it just happened.

Normally, it would only be her in the room eating her food in the corner, and Ciel in the kitchen this early in the morning, but not now. Ever since Ophis joined the mix she has been enjoying her food with her, sitting across the table.

Although, both are the silent type. They didn't really talk too much and just kept silent, but it was apparently a language to them, as they had a mutual respect and acknowledgement for each other.

And finally, with Rimuru and Medea coming down, and Ciel finishing preparing whatever she was preparing, Artoria finished her meal which was around 200 times the amount of a normal adult male's daily intake of calories, she changed into her teacher clothes and left. Passing by Ophis they both did a silent nod at each other.

A peaceful walk later, Artoria found herself in front of the school again. But unlike normal, she felt a sense of unrest and distortion in mana around the place.

(Something happened?)

She pinched the top of her nose and sighed.

(Why do I have the feeling it will be a long day?)

Resigning herself, she entered.

By stepping into the school grounds, she immediately sensed multiple powerful beings there.

(Hmmmm)

The first period proceeded as normal, with nothing strange happening. She kept an eye on those above average people, but they did nothing apart from stand by. It was only after lunch, that things started to change.

Multiple other people started arriving, each excluding an aura that overpowers all the students there.

(It seems they are all meeting in the occult research club. That makes sense to be honest... oh well it has nothing to do with me. It's probably cos of Ophis tho.)

Munching away, Artoria just sat at her desk, staring into the open space pondering about what they were doing.

Because of the presence of these people, the good Artoria and the bad Artoria has reached a compromise. They swapped places, and since the good one has more patience, she was in charge of teaching, and the bad one will keep an eye on the meeting, totally not eavesdropping.

And with this, the day continued smoothly with no other disruptions.

...

"It seems that most of the good faction representatives have gathered at that club room... don't you think it's the perfect time to strike."

Seemingly talking to no one, Rizevim Lucifer continued to speak without waiting for a reply.

"I know what you're thinking, that it's probably dangerous to do it under the eyes of so many of them, but that's what makes it thrilling you see. And if we succeed then it will deal a stronger and heavier blow to them.

You also do know that this is vital to my plan right? Her blood is of the most importance. And it will also put you up against someone strong, like you always ask to, so it's a win-win.

We went through most of her abilities, so this will definitely work.

Isn't that right, Crom Cruach?"

A shadow then loomed over Rizevim, and it smiled...

...

After a normal morning, and a normal day, and normal lessons, Artoria finally discovered what wasn't normal about this particular day, and that was the walk home.

Immediately as she stepped out of school, she sensed that she's been isolated from reality.

(Why does this have to happen to me...) The positive Artoria winged internally.

(Shut up)

(No you)

At this point, the perpetrators suddenly appeared, and their appearance looked extra flashy

One of them had the appearance of a middle-aged man in his 40s with dark silver hair and hazel eyes. And the other one had an appearance of a tall man wearing a black coat.

Before either parties spoke, Artoria summoned her blade and waved it upwards, parrying an attack which was then identified to be the man wearing black coat.

"It's as the rumours say, you are strong. I'm Crom Cruach, that's Rizevim."

Despite the fact that he was introducing himself, Crom didn't stop his attacks one bit. His fists rained down relentlessly at Artoria, who was probably still trying to process the situation.

Finally seemingly processed the information, Artoria made a huge swipe and increased the distance between the her and Crom.

"Artoria." Needing no other words, she donned her golden armour and charged forwards in a blur.

The two then fought hard and seriously in the air, leaving Rizevim on the side, watching.

Well, he tried to look like he was watching. In fact, the speed at which the two were fighting actually surpassed the rate at which he can see, which is surprising since he was a super devil.

He also had to maintain the reality they were in, since as Crom said he was gonna go all out, a lot of damage had to be maintained, and the barrier couldn't break, otherwise the entire plan would go down the drain.

He blended in with he surroundings and tried to make his presence as small as possible.

He thought about his pride, and how he was a mere bystander, but he then thought about his grand plan and swallowed down his pride.

Meanwhile, the battle in the air was getting intense. Each blow from Crom carried enough force to destroy entire cities, but Artoria not only defended against them relatively easily, but also counterattacked.

Crom was in disbelief.

"How can a human have so much strength...?"

"Probably because of the training zone to be honest. Fought that monster quite a few times."

"What?"

"Nothing."

It seemed that whatever Crom threw at her, she simply countered in the most efficient way possible.

At one point, he even used his flame breath and rendered everything in a hundred miles scorched but Artoria was perfectly fine, so he just gave up thinking that it was a waste of energy and effort.

Their words were drowned in the sound of their battle, but as it drew on and fatigue kicked in, Artoria seemed faster and stronger. From defending and occasionally counterattacking to gaining the upper hand and becoming the one attacking and controlling the battle, her sword grew brighter and brighter.

However, Crom had a wide grin of his face, even though he was losing.

(This is the battle I've been waiting for.)

They fought for another 30 minutes, until Crom's hands were unable to regenerate anymore, and they were mere lumps of flesh.

Knowing it's time, Crom reluctantly distanced himself, much to Artoria's confusion.

She thought he was going to unleash some sort of serious final blow attack like all villains do when they are about to lose, but instead, he began talking.

"I'm sorry about this, but it's part of the plan so I have to go through with it."

"Huh?"

"I'll explain it Crom. Simple really. I'm sorry for interrupting your battle, but its obvious that we will lose, so instead please could you give us a chance."

"A chance?" She gave Crom a ridiculing look, and he just merely looked down in disappointment.

"Yes. Unleash your strongest attack at me. If I am able to receive it with no damage to me then you have to obediently come with us and give us your blood. And if I don't, well, I would probably be dead then."

"Oh? And what gives you so much confidence?"

"Well, you are someone who sticks to their word. I will tell you why as long as you promise to accept it."

"... Very well then. I promise," She looked at him with disgust. This was definitely not chivalrous behaviour, and backhanded tricks like these annoys Artoria the most.

"Good good! Simple. I have a skill that can cancel sacred gears useless, even longinuses. I don't know what sacred gear you have, but it's obviously not documented and have the power equal to a longinus. Unleash your strongest attack, then come with us."

"Oh."

(Wait, but my power isn't a sacred gear or a longinus, so doesn't that mean?)

She snook a look at Crom who was behind Rizevim, still recuperating from the damage. However, when their eyes met, a look of ridicule appeared in his eyes.

(What a joke. Even I can sense that she doesn't have a longinus. I don't know what she has to make a human that powerful but it's definitely not a sacred gear. You lost before you even tried Rizevim.)

"Very well then. And what do you need my blood for?"

"That's confidential, but if you come with me I can show you."

"No thanks then."

Ending the conversation, she raised her sword high in the air.

Seeing this, Rizevim also signalled Crom to step aside, to which he received a nod. He also put all his concentration on Artoria and her sword, waiting to witness her so called strongest attack.

As she closed her eyes, a brief flash of confusion sparked before a sigh escaped from her lips.

The righteous and glorious golden light surrounding the sword then became dark and gloomy.

Noticing such change, both Rizevim and Crom were shocked. Both were able to sense the evilness to the energy, but their attitudes were different.

That energy! It's even better! If I could get some of that, then I won't even need her blood! - Rizevim

That energy is very dangerous. Strange, how and why would she change into that. Does she have multiple personalities? This human is surrounded in mysteries. I bet that idiot still thinks he can take it. - Crom

When Artoria next opens her eyes, the gold was not there, instead it was filled with darkness and coldness.

... Brief interlude ...

(Oi! Why do you want control now huh? I fought that entire battle so I should end it!)

(That's the reason. You had all the fun. I should've stayed outside now.)

(Yeah but it's too late now.)

(Nono its not.)

(Yes it is!)

(No its not!)

They began to butt their heads against each other and argued internally. Swords were then drawn and after an intense internal battle, Artoria alter won.

(The score is now 30918 wins 30918 losses 98713 draws. Now we are even. Ha!)

(Damn)

...

That interaction took less than a second on the outside, and when the energy completely changed dark, Artoria prepared to bring her sword down.

Rizevim also smiled at this.

"EXCALIBUR-

-MORGAN!"
