It's been about fifteen minutes since he part ways with the two women, and he has spent the last fifteen minutes taking a look around the entire city that's breathtakingly beautiful, bustling, and neat.
No sign of industrialism here, the city is clean of trash and pollution.
Blake looks down and finds that the road is created with paved bricks of unknown material, it makes walking quite comfortable. It has a slight soft sensation when being stepped on instead of the usual rough ground.
Many skyscrapers made entirely of magical materials can be seen all around him.
Carymount City works in a section-based manner, Blake is currently at the lowest point of the city, the fourth section which consists of residential areas, markets, and any facilities that are needed for regular life.
Aside from the fourth section, he caught a whiff of the third section.
Judging from the talks of passersby, the third section is the section where the guilds are located. Most of the people are going to the third section, while the other upper sections are probably reserved for influential people.
"Why don't you become an adventurer? It's easy to get quests from them" Salana proposed.
Blake nodded his head in acknowledgment while rubbing his chin in thought, "Not a bad idea, it's a great starting point. But if I'm going to join a guild, can I exchange guilds later on or will I be stuck with one?"
"Some guilds have non-exclusive membership, you can go with them" Salana replied.
It was quite obvious why Blake doesn't want to join a guild too soon. If he did then he would be tied down to its problem and also location, which would be bothersome. Other than that, he was interested more in joining Linthia and Tara's guild.
Since he's PK Privileged Player, becoming an assassin is the best course of action.
From the start, he already knows that the purpose of the Limited PK VR Helmet is to make him stronger by killing other players. If he becomes an assassin, then he would be fully utilizing the exclusive benefit he has.
Even though that is the plan, he has somewhere to go first.
Blake makes his way along the street, passing people from all walks of life. Some are haggling, having fun, or simply minding their own business. It didn't take long before he arrived in front of a building that is located at the center of the fourth section.
It was quite big, and the place is crowded with people.
As per what Linthia said earlier, Carymount City is one of the biggest cities under the Narva empire which should be the ruler of the land he was currently in right now, and thus crowded should be expected.
Looking at the building in front of them, Salana reads the sign above the gate.
'Carymount Nexus'
Upon realizing what the building was for and realizing what they are doing here, she snap her face toward Blake in aghast, "Are you seriously falling for that shady girl? When you saw me, you were quite skeptical, and yet you're not skeptical of her?!"
"Okay, first of all, that shady girl has a name, Angel" Blake replied, giving Salana a side-eye.
Putting up his fingers, he then continued, "Second of all, you appeared out of nowhere like a ghost inside my room. So it's natural for me to become skeptical. Angel, on the other hand, we meet accidentally! It's fate! And she's also pretty"
"Gee, you're actually blind. How can she be prettier than me?" Salana rebutted with a huff.
But this makes Blake smile at her teasingly.
Just from his looks alone, Salana could already tell that he was about to say something annoying, "Is that jealousy I sense from you? Are you still stuck at not being called cute by me?"
"Tch!" Salana clicked her tongue and turns the other way.
Blake laughs when he saw her acting like a child when she was not, he then shrugs his shoulder, "Stop thinking about it, you don't have a physical body. I can't touch you and I don't even know if you're a living being. So why would I call you cute?"
"I will have one when you finish the Persona Quest!" Salana exclaimed with a puffed face.
Although she said that out of annoyance and is true that she was still stuck at not being called cute too, Blake paused before he grins, "Wait, are you actually agreeing that I can touch you when you retain your physical body?"
"Yes- I mean, no! Eugh, whatever, forget about it" Sheturns away again, crossing her arms.
Finding her stuttering in embarrassment like that, Blake could only laugh but their moment was disturbed when a prompt from the system appear, it was written in red so it should be a warning for him.
[Prolonged exposition to sunlight!]
[Player MoonDespoiler has been inflicted with nausea!]
[... with dizziness!]
[... with an internal burn!]
[... with exhaustion!]
[... with weakening!]
Blake instantly felt the impact as his body deteriorates substantially in a couple of seconds.
'Damn, I forgot about this' he cursed inside his head.
It was the Overlord of the Night skill. Despite easily being one of the strongest passive skills in his arsenal, making him substantially stronger during the night, it was the complete opposite when the sun is up.
Since he didn't suffer any mild effects from being in the sunlight, he forgot about this.
Fixing his eyes to his front hazily, he suddenly could feel an enormous weight on his back alongside other side effects that started to cripple him. Blake forces himself to move, trying to reach the Carymount Nexus building before he passed out.
It was even worst realizing that the guards around the place are eyeing him from the side.
Some of them already have their hands on the hilt of their weapons.
Not knowing much about the place he was in right now, he reckons that this city is limited only to humans, and he doesn't know if other races could be here in the first place. If he was exposed as a Spectral Vampire, then he might be hunted and executed publicly.
Managing to enter the Carymount Nexus building, he quickly leans on the wall.
"I thought the Spectral Vampire race is immune to sunlight, but it seems not. If I had to guess, your bloodline is just so strong that you're able to endure the sunlight for half a day, and now you've reached the limit" Salana said from the side.
Blake, on the other hand, is exhausted and his skin is even paler.
The feeling is similar to running to the point of exhaustion before finally stopping, his eyes are blurry right now, and the urge of passing out and vomit is quite strong as a bead of cold sweat trickles down the side of his face.
Surprisingly, it takes twenty minutes before he could finally recover from the side effects.
Many people are giving him a weird glance as he was drenched in sweat, but he didn't mind them and just focus on recovering. After he recovered, he stands straight again and rubs his throat as he was feeling thirsty.
It was bad as his vampiric urge started to resurface again.
"Blake, calm down, you're going to get caught at this rate" Salana warned in concern.
Automatically, responding to the urge, his fangs elongated and his eyes also started to glow slightly. Blake then remembers something, he quickly opens his inventory tab and uses the Transformational Token he gained earlier.
A token that would help suppress his race and give him the qualities of a human.
Pressing the yes button quickly at the system prompt, he can instantly feel that his body started to calm down, and the thirst for blood was replaced by a regular thirst for water like a normal human would.
"I'm thirsty, I freaking need water"
About half an hour later, he finally satiates his thirst and calmed down.
On top of that, he also learns that he was currently in the northern part of the Narva Empire through a map that he bought and also the help of the receptionist of the Carymount Nexus he talked to earlier.
Confirming his location, he then opens another map.
This other map is the map of the kingdoms and empires in the continent, he would need to find the Asmel Elf Kingdom where Angel is located. Scanning the map, he quickly slumps his shoulders dejectedly.
'Shit, I need to get to another city to access teleportation to somewhere near her'
Just as he feared, the Narva Empire doesn't have a relatively good relationship with the Asmel Elf Kingdom. If he wanted to go there, then he would need to go through three teleportation portals.
Based on what the receptionist earlier said, the cost of being teleported varies.
In general, the cost of using a teleportation portal is around a thousand gold coins which are quite expensive. Then again, a teleportation portal is not the regular means of this world so it's definitely going to be costly.
But this is not entirely out of his expectation, he doesn't mind this at all.
The date of the meeting with Angel is in two days of real-world time, so he still has four days of in-game time to reach there. Despite having the money to get there right now, he decided to see how much gold he could get from the guilds.
Standing near the gate, Blake stopped and stretches his hand to feel the sunlight.
"Mmpfh- fuck!" Blake grunted when he felt a sting.
Although he was already using the Transformational Token to turn himself into a human, it seems the Spectral Vampire race is too powerful and dominant. Most of the side effects were gone, but he was still stung by sunlight.
Blake then tries to endure the pain so as to not be caught by the guards.
"Why not try and use a robe or something, if it's only direct contact then that could work"
Upon hearing this, Blake decided that it might be a good idea.
Putting his right leg out which was covered by his pants, he was relieved to find that he doesn't feel any pain whatsoever. It seems what Salana said was true, only the exposed skin got stung by the sunlight.
Glancing around, his eyes caught sight of a man with a black cloak covering his body.
Walking over to him, Blake taps the man on the shoulder.
"Sorry to disturb you, but can I ask how much for your robe?" He asks politely. Raising five fingers, he then added with a smile, "I'll pay you five gold coins for it, are you willing to sell it to me?"
But then the man glanced at Blake with sharp eyes.
Looking at Blake with distasteful eyes due to his upper body only being covered in the leather jacket, the man replied rudely without restraint, "Don't talk to me, weirdo. Do you think I'm a beggar or something? My robe is not for sale, so piss off"
As the man turns around and leaves, Blake was stunned.
It was true that the man was very rude. However, he was not shocked because of that.
Glancing at Salana with a meaningful look, a smile appeared on his face.
"I think we found ourselves our first target"
"He's quite rude, so he has it coming"
Salana then give a thumbs up and added nonchalantly, "Go for it..."
Upon hearing this, Blake smiled as he fixed his eyes on the man in the black cloak, striding away into the crowd. "I'm sorry, but you're going to be my first target. My first player to kill, this is going to be fun..."
