It began when a rose-like smell assaulted his nose. 

Ylana Sapphire and Rowan Garnet are the children of two mafia bosses. To build an alliance between their families, their fathers arrange a marriage between the two.

Rowan is reluctant because he and his family are secretly wolf shifters and Ylana seems to hate both the plan and Rowan for unknown reasons. But all that changes when Rowan discovers that Ylana is his mate.

Now Ylana is left not only navigating the new world of shifters but marriage within the mafia world as well.

Rowan cleared his throat. "You know, we don't have to do anything tonight, or ever, if you don't want. One of the couches has a pull-out bed I can sleep on."

Ylana made her decision right then. "I think we should. That way we can know if we're . . . compatible that way.” She heard Rowan's breath quicken. "If you want."

Ylana had been amazed that she was able to speak to Indigo and shocked to learn that he had seen her too. There was no time to consider any explanation for how it was all happening, and she didn’t care if it was all in her head. It gave her hope and the will to fight. That was what she needed most in the current situation anyway. 


At least she got to say the things she needed to tell her family. When Lily had requested that she say something only Rowan would know, the only thing she could think of was her pregnancy. That tidbit of information also made Ylana feel a little better since the chance to tell everyone herself in person had been ripped away from her.


 Maybe it would make the pack up their search efforts as well – three lives were on the line now instead of just one. The most important thing she was able to get out was where she suspected she was being taken – even if she wasn’t heading to the Jersey Shore, they would know where to start.
