Chapter 11

Aiden took a step closer instinctively.

The smoke coming out of the cigarette filled the air between them.Suddenly Amelie started coughing.Aiden finally snapped out of it when he noticed her coughing even more violently.

"Are you okay?"

"*cough**cough* I'm *cough* Fine!"

"Are you sure?"

"*cough* *cough*No no,*cough*it's just the*cough*" she couldn't finish her sentence so she pointed at his hand.

Aiden gazed at the same direction and understood.It was because of the smoke .He took another puff and immediately put it out.

"Sorry,I hadn't noticed.Let me get you some water."

"No*cough*" Amelie tried to say it's fine,but Aiden had already gone to the vending machine and came with the water bottle.

He gave it to her and she took a sip.Amelie wanted to dig a hole and die in there.She had become a mess infront of her boss.Her face was red mostly from embarrassment.

Aiden patted her back slightly and she tried to asure him she was fine.

Her phone then rang interrupting their movement.It was her brother.

"[Ame where are you?Where did you dissappear?Come here now,we have a lot of work to do.]"

"[I'm coming!I'm coming!]" Thank you Ivan.

"Sorry,an emergency came.I'm gonna have to leave now."

"Hey,how about I join you and see how your departments doing since we're together?"

Oh,God."That is if you have time,of course you can join."Amelie's smile was stiff.She would be teared appart from her team if they found out,she was the one who brought their boss for an unexpected visit.

Amelie secretly texted her brother.

[Boss there now come]

Ivan immediately understood the text and told the team.At least they had a bit of a headstart.

Amelie was behind Aiden for the moment so he hadn't noticed her on the phone yet.

[Keep as busy as you can]

Amelie wanted to cry.Seriously?Finally Adien turned his head and slowed down to match her pace.

"Sorry,I got short legs.Hehe." Amelie awkwardly laughed and Aiden couldn't help,but laugh to.That joke delivery was so awkward she made it even more funny.

Amelie tried to walk as slowly as possible going completely against her regular pace.Sometimes should take a wrong turn and Aiden had to remind her.She would just awkwardly laugh and say.

"God,my sense of direction is horrible."

It wasn't really the best 100 % of the time,but she wouldn't get so severely lost.She was making a fool of herself just to save her team.They owed her a big good treat after this,but then again she was the one who got them in trouble.To justify herself and make the situation more believable she didn't mask her embarrassment that much.

"*This* is what I meant by I'm not organised.As you can see I'm very much scatter brained."

Aiden had been amused with her the whole way.She looked so serious and emotionless all the time,but her joke delivery was top notch.His reputation as a cold and uptight boss had most certainly been crumbled with just this little trip with her.Little did he know that Amelie being so funny was her coping mechanism for awkward situations.

Amelie didn't know that she would make him laugh this much.But a win is a win.

It took them a bit to make their way to her teams office,but it would never be enough for a good preparation for the boss's visit.

When she saw her brother give her a thumbs up secretly,Amelie could finally sigh from relief.

Aiden asked Ivan a few brief questions since he was the leader of this team.He also looked at the works of a few people.

"Miss Amelie can you present to me your work?"

Amelie was stunned for a bit.Was he testing her since day one?Was he trying to lower her guard up in the rooftop so he could catch her unprepared?She quickly brushed those silly thoughts away and nodded.

She sat down on her seat and opened her laptop.

Amelie had done this things countless of times,but still she couldn't help but be nervous especially having Aiden on her shoulder.She didn't know if he did this purposefully to distract,but he was too close.

Aiden hadn't noticed the fact that he was too close to his employee.He just wanted to hear her low voice better,since this voice was always too soft and low when she was nervous.

Aiden didn't know why,but in just this short time together he had noticed so many small details from her.He didn't know if his observation skills had gotten better or it was just this person that incited his curiosity and will to observe.

So he had noticed how her voice would always be lower when she was shy or nervous and it would immediately change,becoming a bit loud and bright when she was excited and comfortable.

Amelie spoke quickly trying to finish as soon as possible because the hot breath that trickled on her neck and right ear was almost unbearable.Her heart beat so fast and her face was probably as red as a tomato by now.

For the love of God,sir Aiden,personal space!!!!

When Aiden noticed that he was too close,it was too late.A light flowery scent filled his nose and he noticed that if she turned her head right now,their nose would most certainly touch,maybe even their....Aiden was horrified with his thoughts.You dirty idiot!You're in the office!She's an employee!

A certain warmth was raised from his heart to his face,but men were more lucky since their beards made the blush more unnoticeable.

Aiden nodded when Amelie finished and even gave her a praise.Then he immediately left that place.

After calming down,Aiden finally made a decision.He would avoid Amelie as much as possible.
