Alastair hears Lea wake and bustle about at sunrise and realizes, although it is the weekend, Sunday brunch was still a busy time for any cafe.
She does not come to wake Oliver, and Alastair finds himself viciously opposed to the idea of losing him from the bed, so he selfishly makes no effort to wake Oliver himself. Lea knows what she’s doing, anyhow, and he is certain she wouldn’t hesitate to break down the door if she felt Oliver needed to get up and help.
Alastair feels far more comforted by the rising sun then a vampire ever should be. As he watches the light slowly rise and bathe the room in it’s warm glow, Alastair realizes it’s because his vampiric family is less likely to do anything shady during the daylight hours.
