The days blur together as Alastair forgoes sleep all together in an effort to keep up appearances and think through every possible obstacle they could encounter at the fundraiser event. 


Oliver, with the grace of a saint, takes all the etiquette advice thrown at him by all three vampire siblings. Lea, on the other hand, has to be held back by Oliver every time someone has to remind him to stand up straight. 


Lea also keeps Alastair updated on her social connections with people who would be all too happy to announce the demise of Cecil Lenoir. She also adds that she is doing her best to convince them that he and his siblings are at least partly victims in this situation, but it’s proving difficult since Virdia once promoted a lip balm that nearly drove an animal into extinction. 


“We are not guiltless,” he reminds her one day on the phone.
